Anyone STILL having heart rate accuracy issues with their Fenix 6?

Hi all,

Super frustrated, but I am still having issues with my Fenix 6S and heart rate accuracy even with the 4.20 software update. I'm wondering if it's just me or what the deal is? I had a 5S Plus before this and had no issues doing the same activities so I really don't think it's user error. My heart rate hardly reads over 110 during really vigorous exercise when my heart rate is closer to 160+. I have tried wearing on the inside of my wrist, tried my other wrist with no luck. It consistently reads 80-110 bpm the whole time. I wouldn't have bothered to upgrade if I knew this was going to be an issue. I know that wearing a chest strap is the most accurate, but I don't like to have to wear it for all of my work outs and my old Fenix was totally fine as well as my apple watch before that. Any suggestions?

I'm hoping that was a typo.  Relaxed

  • I think garmin does not expect people to do activites outside of starting an activity

Irrespective of whether or not that is the case, it would not be an unrealistic expectation. That said, since the issue does not affect everyone it's hard to see how to sort it out.

This concerns the 24/7 registration. This will make the calorie calculation wrong over the day. And the intensity minutes are calculated incorrectly. There are some messages from people about this. I got ~ 800 more calories a day before the mistake.

  • Seems I'm a victim of this problem now too. Just had an intense walk and I know my HR was around 130-ish, while the sensor reported 85 or so. Now my VO2MAX is way off. I had a clean watch, halfway I tried loosening it a bit (it was pretty tight) but no difference.

  • I posted about this some months ago and was having similar problems as many report.  I totally gave up on WHR and went to using a chest strap.  Then that failed.  So while waiting for a replacement from Garmin, I was forced to rely on WHR.  Not sure why, but it eventually started working much more reliably, to the point that most of the time I don't use the chest strap anymore unless I want more accurate HR and all the other running metrics.

  • You could try the Polar OH1+ if you’re having problems with the WHR during activities. Cheap and works very well. In day-to-day tracking the F6 WHR accuracy is still a complete mess (for me). I start and stop an activity around 15 times a day to ‘wake up’ the sensor, otherwise it keeps hanging at 40-50 beats off if I go from rest to activity (walking, cycling, etc). Garmins recent update did absolutely nothing to make the 24/7 tracking more accurate it seems, truly disappointing!

  • I have the same problem with GARMIN. Whr on F6 is totaly wrong and now my GARMIN chest strap stop working (try everything to fix, last I was change the battery but my chest strap is dead). What to say to GARMIN?

Hi there. Very happy, huge progression for me in two days. Dear F6 gave me two points more of vo2 max this morning at the end of my training, yesss !! What's my secret ? This morning, I used th H10 chest strap and during the 2 previous trainings, the WHR, while I wanted to test the 6.0 fw behavior... another way to show the lacks related to accuracy, reliability. Of course, when I  used the WHR, I lost vo2 points... Lol

I agree and for this reason this thread should be locked

It should be locked because you agree??
There are people that are having serious problems with their Fenix6, and maybe there are people that don’t and maybe you are one of them. Nobody is forcing you to read this (and a lot of other) thread(s) about the state the F6 and Elevate3 sensor are in. Garmin has messed up and there seems to be nothing we can do about it. They will announce a Fenix 6 plus or 7 in a few months, with a new HR sensor, and we’ll all move on. Garmins business model sucks and some of us are paying the price, that is all.
