Anyone STILL having heart rate accuracy issues with their Fenix 6?

Hi all,

Super frustrated, but I am still having issues with my Fenix 6S and heart rate accuracy even with the 4.20 software update. I'm wondering if it's just me or what the deal is? I had a 5S Plus before this and had no issues doing the same activities so I really don't think it's user error. My heart rate hardly reads over 110 during really vigorous exercise when my heart rate is closer to 160+. I have tried wearing on the inside of my wrist, tried my other wrist with no luck. It consistently reads 80-110 bpm the whole time. I wouldn't have bothered to upgrade if I knew this was going to be an issue. I know that wearing a chest strap is the most accurate, but I don't like to have to wear it for all of my work outs and my old Fenix was totally fine as well as my apple watch before that. Any suggestions?

  • Within the activity. Tried restarting, changing every setting under the sun. To no avail.

  • Mine was working great until 27/01/2020. Now doesn't work

  • same for me, the heart sensor worked very well with the v5, and since the v6 update the sensor no longer works properly

I just did 8 minutes of cross trainers. exhausted me. without started activity. HF did not get over 100. I started an activity immediately afterwards. here you see what happens to me. A short video.

This is definitely some software problem. No user error. It doesn't matter whether I do cross trainers, go fast or do other things. It's always the same. Even if I wear the watch higher on my arm or whether I shave. This problem started in mid-September after FW update. Before that, I had no problem with this watch. Then I got a second watch. This also worked well until the FW update. Not a single update since mid-September solved the problem for me. I have never had this problem for years. Neither with fenix 3hr, nor with fenix 5x.

  • My 3Rd watch, this time through Garmin is arriving tmw. Product id in the order is older than my current do likely older device manufacturing date, right? I'll replicate your scenario once it's in

  • Thanks, that's very nice of you. I'm looking forward to your report. What exactly do you mean by product ID? There is product ID and serial number. but these are different numbers.

  • Product id is on the box, ie screenshot. Serial is hidden behind pin strap bar... i wont know till i have device on hand support didn't know what (in terms of manufacturing date) they are sending.

Tell me, what activity did you select, and what do you mean by cross trainer lol . Ill use the fw it comes with.

Support alnowledged that there are hr issues in the activities, and dev is investigating, hiking to name one, there were a few. Though he didnt know more.

In terms of the strike gate, stated theres no incidents since f3. But i was one

  • That is the Part Number. This is not the product id that your device has in connect.

I have described my mistake many times. When I start an activity profile I have no problem. But if I am active without starting a profile, the HR widget does not show high heart rates. For example, if I run fast or do other things and then open the widget, it shows HF that is too low. I have 145 and it shows eg 110. But at the same time when I start an activity profile for it, the HF goes up to the right value. The error is only present with the optical sensor. And only if you hadn't started an activity profile shortly before. When doing a test, make sure that no external sensor is connected. I made a short video -> see in my post recently.

  • Sorry yes, part number.  Interesting it matches to the site... i wonder if my part number is for canada. (Bought in store from Mec).

Tthen yes,  If the part number stays the same,  it will be a kinder surprise under the strap bar Smiley

Ah, its clear now, i get you. Yah, ive run up 6 sets of stairs and came close to death. Watch registered 110. All while being outside of activity.

It feels like its capped lol. To serve its "only" putpose...to show you are alive, and display sleep hr values. I think garmin does not expect people to do activites outside of starting an activity. Likely didnt even test for?

That being said. My hr is slow even IN activities. Fw didnt matter. I am white, paleish, and medium ape.
