Anyone STILL having heart rate accuracy issues with their Fenix 6?

Hi all,

Super frustrated, but I am still having issues with my Fenix 6S and heart rate accuracy even with the 4.20 software update. I'm wondering if it's just me or what the deal is? I had a 5S Plus before this and had no issues doing the same activities so I really don't think it's user error. My heart rate hardly reads over 110 during really vigorous exercise when my heart rate is closer to 160+. I have tried wearing on the inside of my wrist, tried my other wrist with no luck. It consistently reads 80-110 bpm the whole time. I wouldn't have bothered to upgrade if I knew this was going to be an issue. I know that wearing a chest strap is the most accurate, but I don't like to have to wear it for all of my work outs and my old Fenix was totally fine as well as my apple watch before that. Any suggestions?

  • . But allday tracking is a mess.

    ...for me

For others it’s fine. I’m sat here now and my watch is showing 57. Definitely not 30 beats too high. Tracks well throughout the day too when I move around at work.

I think you've read my comments often enough. Therefore you should know that it is ok up to 100. Some or many others say the same. That is always a point of view.

  • So nothing has fixed my watch until this morning.  I hope this helps other.  And I have to preface this with not all functionality has been tested yet.  My biggest/only problem has been my heart rate has not been accurate.  This morning I did a complete factory rest on my watch.  Then I synced it with my phone, applied all firmware updates.  The heart rate seemed to be accurate. So I strapped my old vivoactive on the right wrist and my new Fenix 6 sapphire on my left wrist and went for a bike ride.  They were within 1 bpm apart the entire time.  Tomorrow I will ride indoors with it on broadcast mode and will let everyone know if that too is working.  This has been a long road but I am glad to see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Tracks fine for me too when I just ’move around’. I’m pretty active and I would like my watch to track my lifestyle, not just the moving around parts. For me and a lot of others allday tracking is incredibly inaccurate and unresponsive at best. Today I ran a max. intensity run with my chest strap. After my run I turned off the strap and the displayed HR on my watch (already outside activity) jumped from 125 to 86 as the WHR took over. It never got over 100 even as I was walking for 10 minutes to my home after my run (it should have been over 100 all the time). I’m really amazed by how bad the WHR still is, for me the updates changed nothing. Outside activity tracking is still pathetic and unworthy of the 24/7 tracking advertising Garmin does.

    • Keep us posted. I’ve done a factory reset before and that changed nothing.
  • I did a master reset. It doesn't help me either. I have the same problems and I totally agree with you.

What Phil and others are pointing out by adding the "for me" to your comment, is that it's not affecting everyone though we keep seeing these blanket statements that it's a problem with the software.  If that's the case, we'd all have the problem.  I don't doubt you and others are having an issue.  I don't know what's causing the issue.  What I do know is the firmware is working for me and others too.  I just went in the garage and did some calisthenics to get my HR up.  945 with my HRM-Tri in cardio mode 137.  Fenix 6 outside an activity looking at the HR widget 134.  The FW is working for me.

  • Yes, you already mentioned that. I never said it affects everyone. As I said, it works well for me with the first FW. And it's my 2nd watch. Both worked well with the 1st FW and suddenly no longer displayed correctly after the update in mid-September. My friend's F6x with FW 3 still works well today.

  • Don't know what to tell you.  I'm on 6.00.  It's working fine for me as were the previous firmwares.  You're using the same software as me.  This leads me to believe it's related to something else.  I differ to Occam's razor. Slight smile

  • Do you also have an f6x?
