Every time I engage ski mode (and go skiing) it locks up. Have to do a 30 second hold reset. Have tried a bunch of variations. Nothing solves it. Garmin please fix. Device is coming back to you within a week otherwise.

Hi everyone,
We are aware of one bug that can cause a crash at high altitudes. Starting in our v4.65 beta update, we included a fix for this crash. (Our current beta version is now v4.67.) In reading these…
Good news. I upgraded my Fenix 6x to 5.0 this morning and went skiing. 3 hours, 9 runs, 3200 masl max. The ski mode worked like a charm. It didn‘t freeze. Thanks for fixing this.
anyway this is ridiculous because in cervinia, at the arrival of one of the chairlifts, there is a mega advertising: GARMIN FENIX 6 MADE FOR SKIING
Exact same case, 5X worked very well, now 6XPro always freezing when skiing. Disapointing
Additional I encountered the same problem during mountainbiking but only when climbing >500 meters
disappointing is a pretty positive comment if we are talking about a ~800€ SPORT watch;-)
Does anyone know if Garmin is working on a fix (or how to log a defect ticket with Garmin support) for this issue or if anyone from Garmin monitors/replies in these forums? It woud be bad if this is a software issue and not being addressed right away?
I received an answer from Garmin in the meantime but they just wanted to know my address, if there is an update I will post it
but for sure the more tickets they receive the more serious they will take this problem
I can honestly say I have 5 days under my belt already and never once did I have any issues with the ski activity. Firmware 4.30
Same thing happened to me today, with the snowboarding app freezes immediately after the first run, tried this two times and could only solve it by reseting the watch with a long press of the light button. Afterwards I tried the skiing app and for a while it seemed to work, however after about two hours it too became unresponsive and I had to soft reset the watch again.
So in one day I tried three times with two different apps and every single time the watch became unresponsive.
OK folks I filed a bug with Garmin 2 months ago about this. I supplied the debug data, the proof of purchase etc and nothing. Radio silence. So I'm going after them for a refund - you should too. if they can't / don't fix this then we all own a device that's not fit for purpose at all.
OK so I returned my original Garman 6S (to REI) after the skiing issues / lockup three separate days and having it freeze completely every single time I used the ski activity. The Garmin support folks were very nice - but unfortunately ultimately no help at all. So I tried the new unit out today on a few runs skiing and I am happy to report it worked perfectly - same model the 6s. My guess is there is some defect in some of the specific hardware units I would suggest returning yours if you have this issue and seeing if a new one works like mine did. If it does please report back so I know my original unit was in fact just a fluke defective. Thanks
I‘m not sure if I can return my f6 sapphire as I am a early adopter and therefore I’m not allowed to return anymore.
the only way for me is over Garmin I think and they didn’t respond so far
i will report if Garmin sends me a new device...
The same problem, Fenix 6 freezes during ski activity again and again.
