Can't control music volume from watch or earphones and volume too high

I first noticed this issue with my 945 and it seems the issue remains with the F6 Pro.  Most of the time, when I first connect my bluetooth earphones (Jaybird Tarah Pro), I notice two issues related to volume:

  1.  The volume is always much louder than what it was last set at.  Its loud enough to make me worry that I will damage my ears or earphones (this actually happens ALL the time)
  2. . I cannot control the volume from the watch or my earphones.  This occurs about 80% of the time.

The only way I found to correct the problem is to disconnect and reconnect my earphones.  Once I do this, everything is fine.  Anyone else notice this?

I started a thread because of my Backbeat FIT 3100:

    https://forums.garmin.com/outdoor-recreation/outdoor-recreation/f/fenix-5-plus-series/209217/volume-too-high/982311

    Same issue.

Like someone here pointed out, i sent an email to Garmin regarding this problem, and mentioned both threads.

Having a watch that gives the ability to listen music then i cant use it because its too damn loud... makes no sense, and becomes a waste of money picking this phone for the music extra ability.

I recently bought the Venu purely because I wanted to be able use Spotify and the reviews for Garmin were better than those of the Samsung.. although Samsung is cheaper.

Unfortunately, I am having the same problem! So mad that Garmin clearly aren't making an issue of this or trying to find a solution to the problem. My headphones pair at a DANGEROUSLY loud volume and cannot be adjusted on the watch, but they work fine on everything else. Garmin should not sell or advertise a product until issues like this are sorted. Majorly disappointed as music was the selling point for me, and I am unable to use the feature.

Does anyone know if you can use headphones with their own volume control? This may be the only thing that might convince me not to return the watch.

  • Any updates on this?

I’m still having this problem with my fenix 5 plus.

For Jaybird Vista - Make sure the JayBird app is downloaded to phone. Connect earbuds to phone. Open app and make sure earbuds are connected and recognized. In app settings/controls, go down to bottom under long pause and change to volume controls. Now hold button on earbuds and make sure it operates volume. Disconnect from phone. Go to music player on Garmin (Fenix 6 was tested). Play music and connect Jaybirds. Volume should now work. Issue, volume controls on buds are turned-off by default.

JayBird Vistas - Volume controls are turned-off by default. They can be turned on using the JayBird app in setting/controls/longpause/change to volume control. Disconnect and reconnect to Garmin (Fenix 6s test) now works.

  • sounds good. Will go back to the store tomorrow and try it out.

  • Year 2023 Garmin Descent MK2 with AirPods and still the same issue, this is incredible

  • Same here between Fenix 6X Pro and Moondrop Space Travel headphones, volume stuck at blasting level.

  • I also got the same issue with moondrop nekocake. Seems like the tws just lock the last volume they got from phones and then can't be controlled with the phone

I tried to connect to phone again, lower the volume on phone, connect again on watch, now it's not blasting but still can't be controlled via watch. It's kinda weird having a volume control but can't control the volume
