Default Music Player

I am trying to figure out where to set my default music player. I read online that it should be an option under "Settings," but I don't see it there. I've hunted around a bit, and can't seem to locate it.

Trying to pair with Fenix5s
  • I've just bought Fenix5 and I can't control Spotify or other player by my watch. I can see there is more people with the same problem. Is this problem getting fixed by Garmin?
  • Amazon Music BT functions do not work with any of my headsets. Since all the other media apps I have work correctly, there seems to an issue with the AM app which could explain why it fails with the Garmin widget.

On my Galaxy S7 the Amazon Music app responds to all my Bluetooth headsets, but does not respond to the music control Widget on my watch. The widget displays what's playing, but the controls have no effect.

Tidal start working on my F3HR after update to 4.90v. Great.
  • +1 for this being a backwards step and a stupid idea.. Mine now keeps launching Google music, which I have never used. Used to start Spotify perfectly without having to get my phone out.

I have had issues with my garmin vivoactive hr music controls and have been emailing them starting back in November 20017. Using Amazon music the only control I have is the volume. I was emailing Tec. Support back and forth and thet they said they were escalating the issues but then just stopped talking to me. I have follfoll up but I'm still told they are working on the problem. Well 4 months and still no fix come on Garmin, anyone had any luck with this ? March 1, 2018 still waiting .......

Same problem for me with Amazon Music. When I hit play on the watch, the app opens but I have to manually start music. And only the volume control functions after that. Amazon please work with Garmin to get this sorted. Garmin does not seem to have a solution.

Spotify not working either. Looks like a monumental cockup to me, as it was working fine before.
  • I am happy I found this thread and discovered I'm not alone.

It seems Garmin have decided Sonos is not a music player? Sonos is what I usually use when working out. For testing, I switched to Tidal, and then Music control worked as expected. Switching back to Sonos, and Music controls had no effect any more. This is on Android with a Forerunner 630

I absolutely HATE when developers do this. This is such an integral part of why a lot of us bought the device. Thebln you up and remove this whithout properly testing it ? Do these guys know how many Android music apps exist!?! To say it will default to what you're using/listening to is b$. I use Shuttle music player and never had an issue until this update. It was driving me nuts. Thanks to whoever posted the old apk. I removed the new, installed the old and works perfectly again. Will not be updating this again. I don't care about the app tracker or 90% of the other attributes this (cr)app offers. I care about not pulling my phone out to change a track while on a run.
