GPS accuracy is really bad.

Another run in auto select mode. This is not cherry picking, both pictures from the same run where 80% of the track is off the sidewalks and lanes I have used. One bit shown in the picture is where I ran there and back on the same side walk so E3 can't even be consistent with itself...

I also hike a lot in the mointains and this margin of error is dangerous!!!

  • I am sorry to hear you are having this issue. For best GPS results we would recommend trying a few initial steps.

    • Ensure the watch software is on the latest version.
    • Even when up to date, it is important to sync with Garmin Express or the Connect app often. This ensures the prediction satellite data is up to date.
    • Be sure you are using the best settings for accuracy. (Be aware, accuracy and battery life are a balance. The more accurate settings will use more battery life.) We would recommend the following:
      • Satellites: All+Multiband
      • 3D Speed: On
      • 3D Distance: On
      • Auto Pause: Off
      • Data Recording: Every Second

It is important to bear in mind, that even in perfect conditions GPS will have a margin on error on any Garmin GPS device. Things such as environmental factors and standing still can cause larger accuracy errors.

  • Where do i enable all this? Not exactly easy to find things as a new Garmin user.

  • For Satellites, 3D Speed, 3D Distance, and Auto Pause these settings are found in the individual activity settings.

    1. Press the upper Right button
    2. Select your activity
    3. Scroll down and select Activity Options
    4. Select each of these settings, and make the desired changes

    For Data Recording:

    1. From the watch face hold the Middle left button
    2. Select Watch Settings
    3. Select System
    4. Select Advanced
    5. Select Data Recording
    6. Select Frequency and select Every Second
  • Where do i enable all this?

The following options can be adjusted in the menu of each respective activity profile. Satellites can be also changed globally (Menu » System » Satellites)

    • Satellites: All+Multiband
    • 3D Speed: On
    • 3D Distance: On
    • Auto Pause: Off

And the last one can be changed in watch Menu » System » Data Recording

  • The satellite mode can explain lower accuracy, but none of other suggested settings are applicable - none of them can explain a systematic offset to one side relative to direction of running.

Furthermore, here an older thread that discussed a similar issue - according to that the best possible combination of settings was used and still there was a similar offset:

    https://forums.garmin.com/outdoor-recreation/outdoor-recreation/f/enduro-3/383891/gps-accuracy-issues-on-enduro-3?pifragment-1292=3#pifragment-1292=9

A similar systematic offset to one side existed in Fenix 6 for as long as I owned it. I don't know if that has ever been fixed.

  • Also, here is a link to the closed thread that I started - for better discoverability:

  • All Enduro 3’s have no satellite connectivity today… So disappointed with the watch so far.. So buggy.

  • Have been using mine 24/7 since September with a 150ish activities (mostly trail running). So far I'm super happy - no bugs, no accuracy issues, amazing battery life ... all perfect!

Absolutely cannot understand why people complain. Especially when I see statements like "no satellite connectivity today", which is just ridiculous (politely spoken), I fail to take this even remotely seriously and I hope Garmin doesn't waste any time reading such posts.

  • I paid nearly £1000 for a watch that today wouldn’t find any satellites during my run so time and distance is out. Spoke to various friends all with Enduro 3’s and they couldn’t connect either? Is that not an issue?

I’ve also had multiple runs that have never loaded to Garmin Connect so I’ve had to manually upload to Strava. The same has happened to other users including a 100 and 200 mile events?

  • Hello, my enduro 3 could not find any satellite this evening Paris time France (4th of Feb 2025) whereas my wife with her epix 2 had no issue at all, same running at the exact same location at the same time, what s going on ? Should I return my enduro 3, it is almost new ?
