older connect apps are not archived for public or connect iq developer use

the only archives of the connect .apk's are on sites like apkmirror.  Garmin should provide an official apk archive, at the very least for connect IQ developers, since we often run into bugs and need to use older releases.  relying on 3rd party sites should not be required.

  • a similar request could be made for beta versions of connect iq app releases to at least developers. whatever current internal or incremental rollout that is currently done to test the apps has not been sufficient.

  • i don't know of common industry practice for apps, but the apk's are already available. the question is do you want your customers/developers loading your old apk's from semi-trustworthy places (e.g., apkmirror) or do you want them using official apk's? i would think you would want the latter, considering how easy it should be to provide, especially for developers. a business that relies on unpaid third parties to provide a necessary service is likely to be disappointed at some point.

  • I've made a request ticket for this. I agree that there could be some benefit to having this, similar to being able to switch between old and new SDK's, however, I don't think it's common industry practice to do this. I don't expect we would be any different. Nevertheless, the request is made so we will see!
