App is not searchable with Fenix 9 watches

My app CamCtrl is not searchable when a Fenix 9 watch is the selected device in ConnectIQ. The app is installable on the same Fenix 9 if found via the other apps by this developer route. But searching the app by name, or any decent keywords will not show the app. Selecting a different watch in ConnectIQ such as the Quatix 8 will show the app just fine.

I have had users that purchased the app on their old watch asking how to get it on the Fenix 9. I deleted my ConnectIQ phone app and reinstalled, and the issue is still there.

  • I have the same issue on BOTH platforms, Android and iOS. And even if you select filter to display only paid - it DOES NOT show apps that are available through Garmin purchase. Even if results are only 2-3 apps.

And I DO have fenix9, among with other devices - that I refer to below. Let's not just beat around the bush, and just upvote what is clearly IS a bug.

  • Android or iOS?.  At least on Android, you can select all/free/paid when searching apps.

Do you have an f9 yourself or is it just something you heard?

  • This is not about a particular app, it's ALL paid apps, paid as in buying directly from Garmin or their merchant system. These apps are not showing up in the search on the Fenix 9. They do show up on any other device, just not the Fenix 9, which is an error.

I get what you're saying about rankings etc, but that is unrelated to this issue.

  • Garmin is kind of tight lipped about what comes into play when when determining which 100-200 apps are displayed at a time.  We can assume things like downloads, rating, and social media views come into play, and for things like "Hot and Fresh", how long the app has been available.

This is to try and prevent "gaming the system".

Just my opinion, but I think having categories specifically for paid apps only is because in general, people like their free apps and the paid apps would fade off the list is they were only included with the free apps.

While a dev wants their apps to be visible, so do all the 100's-1000's of developers.  If it only went by download counts, my apps with 100,000-500,000 downloads would always be near the top, but that's not the case.

  • here is for example - F3b dozen run - the #1 in top paid apps with 100K+ downloads. It is not in search at all. All free F3b apps are.
