Data Field: Peter's (Hi Vis) Pacer

Description
Peter's (Hi Vis) Pacer helps you to ride/run the perfect race.
This is a spinoff project from Peter's (Race) Pacer, while it has many similarities it took me a while to create as it's a completely seperate code base.
It's different in the following ways:
  • high visibility less data is shown on the screen, which means that it is easier to read - eg for people with bad eye sight.
  • it can be used in non-single field mode, this means you can put it on the same page with other datafields of your choice!
  • It's also optimized to run on Edge devices, this means you can just as well use this field to pace your bike races just as your running races....
Adjusting the race distance
In a race when you are next to the race marker press the LAP button, the distance will now be corrected to the nearest lap position - eg 5.08 will correct to 5, 8.8 will correct to 9. After pressing the lap button the distance will be adjusted and all averages will be recalculated against this new distance figure.
When you miss a lap marker do not worry: do not press LAP and go for the next lap marker.
When you press the LAP marker by mistake you can undo the (last) correction by pressing the LAP button again - within a 30 second window

Donations
The data field is fully functional as is, yet donations are encouraged on the watch by an encouragement text.

  • It might be at Garmin's side, do you see the graph if you look on the garmin connect website? (don't use the mobile app)

  • Hi Peter. I'm having the same issue after working brilliantly for 4 years or so. Can't see the ahead/behind graph on the mobile app or Garmin connect web site. It's been off for around 6 weeks. Tried resetting both watch and app. Mine's a Vivoactive HR. Thanks

  • Hi Peter,

Same problem on the Garmin website, no graphs. I have deleted the hi vis pacer and installed it again, but still not working. I installed your regular pacer (the non-hi vis), and that works perfectly!

  • I believe I've found an issue with the Carousel Option in Race Pace Hi Vis..

I have the VivoActive 3 Music:
    SW Version 6.20
    GPS Version 2.50
    WiFi Version 2.50
    TSC Version 2.00
    ANT/BLE/BT 6.11
    Sensors Version 3.20
    WHR Version 20.03.31
    Connect IQ Version 3.2.0

To produce the issue: From a fresh install (5/13/2022), set Field 1 to carousel of 2, 3 or 4, set Field 1, 2, 3 or 4 of carousel to HR. In this state, the data field displays a blank white field with only "IQ" in the center, with an exclamation point over the IQ text.

Frankly, I don't know if making HR available in the Carousel for Field 1 is a great idea anyway. Field 1 seems to always be highlighted Green or Red, based being ahead or behind the Race Goal. But Garmin also uses a color scheme for HR based on percent of Max. So it could be a bit confusing if you have a HR that's below 90% of max range, but the field is painted red because the time/pace is behind the goal.

  • Thanks for the report, I'll add the issue to my backlog

  • Hi,

I want to use this as a tool to compare split times on a hillclimb course. My idea is to set the race distance to 2k on the data field and have it compare the pace between different climbs. Is this possible?

  • Hello , Is it possible to change the speed (target)  during an activity ?

  • Hello is it possible to change the speed (target) during the activity ?

    thanks .

  • no

peter's pacer (the app) does have that feature

  • Could you make the bottom field have a larger font if we select only 1 data (without the 3rd field). E.g. if I set the bottom to show only the distance, the font is so small that I can hardly see without my glasses. That's why I have it set to show your field in the top field and the distance from the Garmin field in the bottom field, because it has a bigger font.
