Erg IQ

Installation & Configuration

ErgIQ can be installed from the Connect IQ store using the link below. Once installed, a limited set of application settings are available for the user to adjust. These settings as well as the pairing procedure are outlined in the user manual.

Requirements

ErgIQ will connect to a compatible fitness equipment system, the following is currently supported:

  • Concept2 Rower/SkiErg with PM5 (Firmware v22.015/156/722 or greater)

Known Issues

This is a BETA and therefore it has some items being worked through. For issues relating to FIT recording, pairing or Garmin Connect, even if they are listed here please report that you have the issue as well. This will help accurately determine the scale of the problem.

  • workout metrics are incorrect: distance, calories, stroke count (upgrade PM5 to BETA v22.014 or greater using C2 Utility if your comfortable doing this, otherwise it will be fixed in the next release)
  • Fenix3, FR920XT, and vivoactive HR have issues pairing (see post #4 for temporary workarounds until resolved)
  • vivoactive doesn't save last lap and session data correctly (issue being investigated)
  • Garmin Connect doesn't integrate developer FIT fields using native number mapping for summary, laps, or record fields

Non-Garmin FIT Analysis Sites

ErgIQ takes advantage of the newer defined developer FIT fields. These fields are a new standard that are not currently recognized at all non-Garmin sites. The following sites are known to work but others may work as well, this is not an exhaustive listing:

I have trouble with ErgIQ (latest version) on my Fenix 3 (8.30.0.0). It connects fine and without hassle to my PM5 (v23.4)
During a session all data (watts, pace, HR, time, …) is shown correctly, but after upload to Garmin Connect there's like "no erg related data".
I downloaded the original .fit file from Garmin Connect and imported it to GoldenCheetah, but there it's also quite empty.

Any idea about a possible solution?

My f5s automatically updated to 3.30 firmware last night and now my Erg IQ app is not recording all my sessions. It was working perfectly up until the 3.30 firmware, really disappointed.

I am using firmware 3.30 on a fenix without issue. Lately I've found that an un-install and re-install works best on resolving these issue. Let me know.
  • guess its time to upgrade my pm3 to a pm5

So no one an idea what could be going wrong?

What data is missing? If you see the charts and the session data at the bottom it is working as expected. The power data and some additional elements should be available in the FIT file with the next release which will happen when Connect IQ 2.3 beta is released non-beta.

    Thanks for you reply, @lcj2

To be sure I have the lastest version, I uninstalled and reinstalled ErgIQ and did a 1' test…

    What data is missing?

Garmin Connect (Power, Distance, correct SPM/Cadence, Pace/Speed, Calories/Kilojoules)

    Golden Cheetah (Power, Distance, correct SPM/Cadence, Pace/Speed, Calories/Kilojoules, TSS/Score)

TrainingPeaks (Power, correct SPM/Cadence, Calories/Kilojoules, TSS)

  • The first issue I see is that the Connect activity image you've posted doesn't show ErgIQ below the watch on the devices list. How are you attempting to load this application? Did you verify the steps in the manual?

Yes, my F3 connects very well to my PM5s (SkiErg & RowErg). Had no connection issues at all. All data shown on the PM5, is shown on my F3 too. But not in Garmin Connect or the fit file itself.

  • I might need to check with the Garmin folks because the connect site should be showing something like:

For some reason the Connect site doesn't seem to be honoring it but what is stranger is the FIT file lacks the data. Can you check with version of ErgIQ you are using in the application settings?
