NoFrills (watch face)

Support and feedback section for the NoFrills watchface

How to install and configure NoFrills

Please post any issues, questions and / or suggestions you have here and I will assist as best I can.

  • Another user who reported the exact same issue said it started working again after he upgraded the firmware.
What is your current firmware version?

I'm on version 2.40 of the watch firmware.

Overnight I've been running one of the stock faces. I was going to post pictures to show that the HR info appeared while browsing through the faces to select one but then vanished as soon as the face was actually activated, but it has now started working! I haven't updated anything. I've also just done a resync, to check that it didn't make the problem come back, and all seems to be working.

I guess I'll keep an eye on it and let you know if the problem occurs again and thanks for the prompt reply.

Thanks for letting me know and your persistence.
We've seen a few instabilities with f5x and we hope that future FW upgrades will stabilize the watch and the apps running on it.
  • I updated NoFrills with GCM iOS and lost all settings (need to redo everything in settings :( ). I have the same issue with my own widget and I'm just wondering if this is a known issue of GCM iOS. Are you aware of this?
  • Hello, I really appreciate this watchface on my Vivoactive HR but seems to lag a lot when I scroll from it to any adiacent widget, compared to other watchfaces I sometimes use that they don't seem to lag.
    Any solution?

It is something that I noticed in the past month too. In fact it happens to all CIQ apps when updating. With a watchface you even get an error if the watchface you wish to update is being actively displayed, similar to when you uninstall it and it is displaying. This is the first proof that apps get fully uninstalled when being updated.

I don't know what Garmin's reason for this is.

Thanks for using the watch face.
Unfortunately utmost care and performance improvements have already been pushed to the max.
As with most complex watch faces, there is some visible lag as you described. You even see this with some other watchfaces too.

Can you please take a screenshot so I can determine what settings and datafields etc. you have enabled that could possibly be the cause.

Thanks, I cannot see anything odd.
You even have the HR disabled, so that should count in your favour.

I will check the code again, but like I said, I've been through careful cleanup and optimizations before.

Infact, I think a 2 minutes old hr reading is unuseful, but we all know it's a watch feature, non your fault.
I also tried to delete and reinstall, but it's still the same.
Funny that it lags even when I cycle only through widgets without passing through watchface.
I usually use "pendulum" and "big time" watchface and never happened (I apologize if I named other watchfaces)

This is odd. Does it not lag when you uninstall NoFrills?
If NoFrills causes the lag when you don't even pass through it, then I have to raise it with the ConnectIQ team as the life cycle of a watchface or widget ends when you loop to the next or previous widget.
Are the other widgets where you experience the lag not perhaps other Connect IQ widgets downloaded from the store?
