The app is good during a hike, but I wish there were instructions somewhere. The link regarding basic functionality is dead. I see no way to look at the data once it is saved. On my last hike, after reaching…
What watch do you have? You need to get a GPS fix with Hike2 before you can start recording. Make sure you are outside in clear sky, and on many watches, if you go to "about" you'll see either SPE or EPO…
Thanks for the work on the app. Regarding the elevation tab, I had a question about how it is calculated for devices without an altimeter-- clearly there are some (somewhat inaccurate, which would lend credence to the GPS-based theory) numbers there on my venu sq, but where do they come from? Is it based off of the GPS as well?
I display the info I get from the underlying firm ware, and in the case of devices without a baro altimeter, that's GPS based.
When the activity is synced to Garmin Connect, for devices without a baro, elevation correction is applied. You can see the option to do this if you look at the activity in the web based Garmin Connect.
7/30/21 - went to use Hike 2 - the icon will not select and start the app. I uninstalled and reinstalled, still not working. Standard "Walk" app works fine.
Please use the "Contact Developer" link for the hike2 app and let me know what device you are using and the firmware version (you can find it in "about" on the watch.)
First of all thank you for the app, I've been using it quite a while and don't want to miss it!
I've been searching for some while now, but I don't really understand the waypoints - can you or someone please explain it to me or point me to some kind of tutorial/overview in case I've missed it?
What would be the intended use for them? I've managed to create new waypoints and save them, but how do I show or remove saved waypoints? Why would I choose to load them on startup or not (as is the possibility to change in the startup options...)?
Thank's for clearing this up for me.
The waypoint is this app are just a way to mark a specific location. You use the normal "lap" button on your device to mark one. Then it will show up on the map/chart, as well as on the page with the list of wayponts, where you'll also see the distance and direction to each one. When you save the activity (when you're done), you have the option to also save the list of waypoints so they can be reused on your next hike
