App: Hike2

The next generation of the Hike app. With additional memory and sensors on the vivoactive HR, all be looking at adding new stuff. Right now, it makes use of the hardware compass and barometric Altimeter!

Like Hike, it's stats up and once it gets GPS, press start to begin the recording. There are then a number of screens you can swipe through to see data, like time-distance, pace-speed, altitude data, lat/lon data, and a chart that shows your hike so far. Pressing the back button while recording marks a waypoint, and pressing start pauses the recording, and gives you the option to resume, save, or discard the recording.

There are some on the watch itself that you can access with a long press of the up button, and more by way of Garmin Express, Garmin Connect Mobile or the Connect IQ app.

I have downloaded the app but it says no GPS. If I go to activities and app settings the only option is push notifications. I downloaded the hiking app and this recognises GPS. How do I get Hike 2+ to connect with GPS. Thanks

What watch do you have? You need to get a GPS fix with Hike2 before you can start recording. Make sure you are outside in clear sky, and on many watches, if you go to "about" you'll see either SPE or EPO as "current". If not synck your watch with Garmin express. This is data that's used to speed up getting a GPS lock.

Hi I have the Garmin vivoactive 4s. Had it about 3 months. When you say GPS fix with Hike 2 do you mean engaging with a GPS signal when out? Re about - where do I go to to find SPE or EPO? is that in gamin express? Can I do the same of phone with garmin connect. Since I got the watch my computer has never been able to recognise the phone in Garmin express. I have contacted garmin about this but hasn't yet been resolved. Can I synch using my phone in garmin connect? Thanks. I seem to get GPS with hike. Is hike 2 an updated version of hike?

Yes, when you run the app, no the first screen you'll see "Waiting for GPS". After you get a solid GPS lock, you press start to begin recording and have access to all.

CPE/EPO - on a va4 it's CPE. Go to settings/system/about on the watch, and swipe down and you should see

CPE:

Current

Or something similar. If it's not current, sync using Garmin Express and it should update. The CPE data expires every week or two, and should get updated when you sync using a phone too, but GE is faster.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Great that is a help. I will try this. I do a lot of hill walking up here in Scotland so will use the app a lot so appreciate your help.

Lasy berdion installed F6Xpro - started walking on flat road , during a few minutes i have noticed that I have climb 6 floors it is not true road was completely flat. [email protected]

I'm just reporting what the FW tells me. Was it windy by any chance? A floor is detected by a 10'/3m change in altitude, which is actually detected by a change in air pressure. I've seen floors get counted in a wind, for example.
