With introduction of Garmin Pay, I am starting to add a new payment option for some of my apps. The system is not flexible enough to just add Garmin Pay to existing apps, so I'll publish a copy of an app, with the same functionality but Garmin Pay as the payment provider.

The first one out is Glance Ultra (a copy of Glance Dual Screen):

EASY Round

GLANCE WATCH FACE app won THE BEST NEW WATCH FACE APP OF 2022 ! At the Developers conference Garmin announced nominees and winners for the best apps in different categories. Glance Watch Face was nominated and won in the best new watch face category Slight smile! Garmin didn't post the video from the conference yet, but it was already reported by other websites: https://the5krunner.com/2022/10/12/garmin-app-watchface-of-the-year-2022-ciq-winners-and-nominees-announced/

The idea for this app is simple:
- Use only large fonts, so that all data are visible at a glance (hence the name of the app: Glance   )
- Put as much data on the screen as possible, without sacrificing font size above
- Make all data fields customizeable to your needs
- Make colors customizeable as much as possible, so users can create their own design

The "Glance Watch Face" app is 100% FREE - no hidden restrictions, nagging, or expiration:

There is also a mostly free app - BIG EASY: apps.garmin.com/.../86ec352b-da01-4806-8972-770c6d32a5e8

There are also two paid versions of this app - "Glance Pro":

https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/ac4be3ce-f0f3-4c49-be01-5fa52614ab2b

and "Glance Dual Screen":

https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/5c0fe72b-f045-4366-a878-d3e67c600868

Paid versions are identical to the free version (so no worries, FREE doesn't mean bad!), but have a lot of extra features features:

  • Open Weather Map support
  • Setting for TIME font weight
  • New way to use shared color themes
  • Support for many new metrics (like Body Battery, Stress Level, and lots more)
  • Extra progress bars and Graphs (in Dual Screen only)
  • Two separate data screens (in Dual Screen only)
  • A lot more - see apps description for the full list
  • You have an opportunity (and a small incentive) to support the development Slight smile

Unique feature of the Glance apps - you can save your own Color Themes and quicly switch between them righ on the watch.

NEW: Now you can SHARE your Color Theme! You can also quickly apply Color Themes shared with you. Here is a full description of how it all works: https://www.mobiledriveway.com/glance.html#color

Here is the current Color Themes Gallery: https://www.mobiledriveway.com/glance_gallery.html

Color themes are compatible between "Glance" and "Glance Pro" (except for "inactive status icons color", which became obsolete in "Pro").

I'd love to see all color combinations you came up with. Please post your themes in the Reviews and I'll add them to the gallery!

Questions and suggestions are welcome!

  • I keep on loving the Pro version now :-) especially the thinner font, it is really the top now. One question: would it be possible to add the baro/pressure trend too ? The arrow I mean, it is more meaningful to me and I would replace the pressure in numers with some other things as well. Thanks again for your fantastic job.

  • if there is a possibility to make the "rounding of steps > 10000" an option?

I spent weeks reducing memory usage in Pro app, so it would work on all supported watches. Some features (including rounded steps) were removed. Sorry, there is no going back.

  • would it be possible to add the baro/pressure trend too ?

Yes, if someone can give me an official algorithm for calculating pressure trend. So far no one knows.

  • A very old question for which I was only able to suggest a linear regression algorithm...

Actually, the only information I could find on this is reported below (sorry but I'm not able to give the link to the original discussion):

    Pressure Trend
shows the direction of change (higher, lower, steady) of the barometric pressure over the last three hours.

    - "Rising Rapidly" is indicated if the pressure increases > 2 mb (0.06")
    - "Rising Slowly" is indicated if the pressure increases >1 mb but < 2 mb (> 0.02" but < 0.06")
    - "Steady" is indicated if the pressure changes < 1 mb (< 0.02")
    - "Falling Slowly" is indicated if the pressure falls > 1 mb but < 2 mb (> 0.02" but < 0.06")
    - "Falling Rapidly" is indicated when the pressure decreases > 2 mb (>0.06")

It might not be exactly what Garmin does to show a trend in the ABC widget, but it might be the way to go (certainly better than nothing). After all, the relevant results can be compared to what Garmin shows and adapted accordingly. Or, as another option, the threshold can be left as a user input in setting (sort of what Garmin does to set the storm alert, actually).

    All the best

  • Thanks! Does it mention time period for the pressure change measurement?

Also, what is the trend in a scenario when over 2 hours the pressure is rising, but in last 15 min it is falling?

  • Concerning the time period, it is 3 hours.

Also, from the same discussion (I wish I could post the link), these guidelines are indicated as official:

"The following are official National Weather Service guidlines as defined by the weather glossary:

    Pressure Falling Rapidly
A decrease in station pressure at a rate of 0.06 inch of mercury or more per hour which totals 0.02 inch or more.

    Pressure Rising Rapidly
An increase in station pressure at a rate of 0.06 inch of mercury or more per hour which totals 0.02 inch or more.

    Pressure Unsteady
A pressure that fluctuates by 0.03 inch of mercury or more from the mean pressure during the period of measurement."

I'm not sure what "which totals 0.02 inch or more" means exactly though.

  • Thanks. I might add the Pressure Trend indicator (based on this criteria) when I have time - no promises though.

Meanwhile, my Uneversal Widgets (both Pro and Light) have Pressure graph - you can quickly look at it an decide for yourself what the trend is:

  • Hi-Just installed Glance Watchface V. 2.06 for Garmin Epix2. I want to customize data fields but the watch only offers ‘Restore Colors’, ‘Save Current Colors’, and ‘Other Settings Use Connect App’ as customizing options. The Connect App tells me I can only make customization on the watch itself. Please advise. Thx

  • hi! for customization you have to install garmin connect IQ in your phone. You can configure and install apps and watchfaces from that app.

  • Aha! Did not know this. Just took a look and found the ‘Settings’ tab in IQ on the Glance Watchface page. Many thanks Pray tone1 Thumbsup tone1
