With introduction of Garmin Pay, I am starting to add a new payment option for some of my apps. The system is not flexible enough to just add Garmin Pay to existing apps, so I'll publish a copy of an app, with the same functionality but Garmin Pay as the payment provider.

The first one out is Glance Ultra (a copy of Glance Dual Screen):

EASY Round

GLANCE WATCH FACE app won THE BEST NEW WATCH FACE APP OF 2022 ! At the Developers conference Garmin announced nominees and winners for the best apps in different categories. Glance Watch Face was nominated and won in the best new watch face category Slight smile! Garmin didn't post the video from the conference yet, but it was already reported by other websites: https://the5krunner.com/2022/10/12/garmin-app-watchface-of-the-year-2022-ciq-winners-and-nominees-announced/

The idea for this app is simple:
- Use only large fonts, so that all data are visible at a glance (hence the name of the app: Glance   )
- Put as much data on the screen as possible, without sacrificing font size above
- Make all data fields customizeable to your needs
- Make colors customizeable as much as possible, so users can create their own design

The "Glance Watch Face" app is 100% FREE - no hidden restrictions, nagging, or expiration:

There is also a mostly free app - BIG EASY: apps.garmin.com/.../86ec352b-da01-4806-8972-770c6d32a5e8

There are also two paid versions of this app - "Glance Pro":

and "Glance Dual Screen":

Paid versions are identical to the free version (so no worries, FREE doesn't mean bad!), but have a lot of extra features features:

  • Open Weather Map support
  • Setting for TIME font weight
  • New way to use shared color themes
  • Support for many new metrics (like Body Battery, Stress Level, and lots more)
  • Extra progress bars and Graphs (in Dual Screen only)
  • Two separate data screens (in Dual Screen only)
  • A lot more - see apps description for the full list
  • You have an opportunity (and a small incentive) to support the development Slight smile

Unique feature of the Glance apps - you can save your own Color Themes and quicly switch between them righ on the watch.

NEW: Now you can SHARE your Color Theme! You can also quickly apply Color Themes shared with you. Here is a full description of how it all works: https://www.mobiledriveway.com/glance.html#color

Here is the current Color Themes Gallery: https://www.mobiledriveway.com/glance_gallery.html

Color themes are compatible between "Glance" and "Glance Pro" (except for "inactive status icons color", which became obsolete in "Pro").

I'd love to see all color combinations you came up with. Please post your themes in the Reviews and I'll add them to the gallery!

Questions and suggestions are welcome!

  • Great as always!

May I suggest a feature for the IQ configuration: I normally switch between two color schemes (one black and one white based according to some conditions and activity), it'd would be good to have a second field in the IQ configuration area where to put the "backup/secondary" theme, this way we avoid to go, search for the text to past, copy it, go to IQ and past it.

I hope this can be useful to others as well.

    Thanks!

Why don't you switch between themes from your watch (instead of IQ)? Is it because your watch doesn't support Menu for Watch Face (not all of them do as I understand)?

  • Ah,, unfortunately. Thanks for the reply. Hopefully the demand for this will rise Grinning

  • THANK YOU! I completely ignored that method!

  • Love this watch face and I'm really excited for the next version that will include the option for the custom text on the top field ! Please allow me to suggest another option that might seem interesting and useful for some people. I have seen it on very few other watch faces and it is usually called "power saving mode".

When enabled, only time and date will be displayed after a few minutes of inactivity. Moving your wrist or switching to a widget will wake the face. This could be useful for watches with a not so great battery or people going for an expedition for a few days and needing to save some more battery.

    Keep up the amazing work.

  • Thanks! The power saving you describe would only make sense for watches with AMOLED screen (Venu and Epix series) - it would not make much difference for MIP displays (that most Garmin watches have). For AMOLED watches I already implemented miltiple AOD options - with more info or power saving. For MIP (memory in pixel) watches, the best power saving you could do is dasable "always on seconds" and "always on heart rate" - that would stop 1/sec updates.

  • Have a Garmin Venu 2.  Love your watch face.  My watch records Stress level.  Is there a way to display that reading in the upper right area?

    Thanks!

  • Stress level is not available to 3rd party apps yet.

  • Hi, two questions on Glance (free and non-free).

    Free ver.

I put the stock white on black, since I've the move bar on the top I noted it works on "negative logic" that is full white when I'm not moving and it becomes blank/empty (dark grey) when I move (that is after the Move bar cancelled). It's the default setup when I Restore from the watch so I have to manually change it. It should have the same logic of the Steps bar (that works ok, that is lits bar by bar while steps increase). I save it as Theme 1 though, as work around.

    Now...

    Non-free

I think the above won't be a problem anymore if I move to the non-free version that I want to buy to make the hour font slimmer actually. I read you've removed the support of backup/restore stock setup from the watch (right ?). I fear also that using the non-free version the battery usage will increase though since I see the permission for background operations (for wheather I assume, that I never use).

    Thanks!

  • I didn't know anyone used those "stock" themes, so I removed them in Pro version. Instead, there are 3 user themes, that are pre-populated with "stock" themes, but can be overwritten as desired.

Battery usage in Pro is identical to Free version, if you do not choose Open Weather as a provider. Those background operations will never be executed.
