Hello. I will soon release a new version that includes the new design and supports more watches.
Yeah, that's sad. I really wish for Garmin to get back on the tracks.
Don't worry, I will support the Fenix 7 series. I'm even thinking about buying one for myself to replace my old Fenix 3. Even if…
I just noticed that this app somehow used the IQ data field TX Activity Steps at the same time, how does this work?
Would it be possible to add a feature where the loser starts the next match in "endless" mode? Currently, selecting who starts at the beginning and sticking with it for the entire session feels a bit monotonous. Having the loser start would add variety and make the experience more dynamic.
Additionally, it would be great to include a dedicated warmup option. At the moment, I run the first match without assigning points as a workaround, but this affects the match time statistics. Here's a potential workflow for the app:
Hi and thanks for your message!
Regarding serve order, the official rule is that the winners of the previous set serve first. I can add a parameter to reverse that but is that really necessary?
Regarding the warm-up phase, I'm ok to implement it. I prefer to have a dedicated screen to choose if you need a warm-up because I think it should part of the match. I already made a counter-proposal a few months ago that I will copy and paste here:
- In the configuration screens, you can choose if you want a warm-up (yes/no)
- If no, the current behavior remains unchanged
- If yes, starting a match will display a "Warm-up" screen showing the time and your heart rate. The court won't be displayed, but the Garmin activity will begin recording your data.
- When you are ready, you can press start to begin the actual match. This will create a "lap" in the activity, but no score will be recorded during the warm-up.
This approach integrates the warm-up into the overall match activity. The recorded activity will include the warm-up phase data (heart rate, calories, duration, etc.). Does this sound good to you?
Bug report
I suspect this is more of a Garmin thing rather than the coding of the app, but for several weeks (perhaps a few months?) the app does not respect the touchscreen settings of the watch.
When touch is turned off on the watch, you can still touch the screen to change scores.
This is what happens when touch is turned off (and on) on the watch.
Edited to add: Using Forerunner 265 with software version 21.22
Ah ok did not know about the official rule. Just felt bad that I started the match 6 times in a row.
Sounds good about the warm up phase, and if you don't decide to start a serious game I still have that warmup lap as an activity.
Hi,
You are right. The app is responding to touch events even when it shouldn't. Unfortunately, I haven't found a way in the SDK to detect the device's touch-enabled state. It seems this setting should ideally work regardless of the app's specific actions, but there is an open issue about this here: forums.garmin.com/.../disabling-touch-screen-for-apps-in-system-settings-does-not-disable-touch-screen-for-all-apps.
Hello. I just released the version 4.8.0 that adds the optional warmup phase. It should be available on the store soon. Tell me what you think.
