Watchface: M1

Support thread for the M1 series of digital watch faces (see M1 Lite and M1+). High-quality minimalist design, with a seconds indicator moving around the outside of a clean stylish display.

I'll post some tips and suggestions on changing the settings below, as there are a lot of options. Plus if there are any questions or problems feel free to post them and I'll try to answer!

M1 Lite is recommended for learning the settings initially - it has up to 3 data fields which you can customise.

M1 has the same options as M1 Lite, but allows up to 8 data fields. It also has profiles for saving different custom styles - and these can be activated automatically at specified times. But setting up the fields for M1 is more complicated! Whereas the settings for M1 Lite show you the options for all 3 fields at once, with M1 the settings only show and allow you to change one field at a time (and the watch just remembers the other 7 fields).

M1+ has more field data options than M1 but colors must be entered as RRGGBB or number (use the link in settings or see post below for a list). Extra field data options include: sun events, 2nd time zone, heart rate, calories, intensity minutes, distance, pressure & altitude. Profiles are compatible between M1 & M1+ so you can export and import between the two.

Known Issues

  • Hi Joe, and good question Slight smile In M1+ that is possible but only through using the profiles (and the Gesture Profile setting).

Note I'm working on a much improved M2 version which is also much (much!) easier to set up and can easily hide fields when you gesture (like you need), but it is still 4-6 weeks from release (hopefully end of this year).

For now in M1+ you would have to do the following:

    •  Create your display with just steps, and save that as profile 1
    •  Create your display with steps + goal and save that as profile 2
    •  For profile 1 you should set the Gesture Profile to be "2" (and save that with profile 1)
    •  Also make sure that profile 1 is set to be displayed all the time, so Profile Activation Days = 1234567 (you shouldn't need to set start & end times)

When profile 1 is displayed now (hopefully all the time!) then when you use a gesture to look at your watch it will switch to profile 2 for 10 seconds, and then switch back to profile 1 afterwards.

There may be a slight delay due to the profile loading, but it will work for now. Then when I finish M2 I recommend trying that out instead Slight smile

  • Thank you for your detailed description.
    Enjoy creating the M2!
We will have it later. Wink

  • I upgraded to the fenix 6 solar and miss this watchface! Hopefully it will be available soon. Best watchface in the store! Fantastic Job on this!

  • The new version I'm working on (M2) will support all of the Fenix 6 models Slight smile But it's still a few weeks away from release in the store as I've had to make significant changes to the code. Plus optimizing the graphics for the different sizes - but it should look great on that lovely large display on your watch!

  • Any update on when that M2 watchface will be released?

  • It's taking longer than I hoped, sorry Slight smile Current deadline is 14th Jan, so just trying to rush through the final things that need doing. (But it can then take 2-3 days to appear in the store …)

  •  - just uploaded an initial version to the app store! Waiting for approval, but these are the links:

Still a couple of missing features, but nothing major. I'd consider it to be in beta for the next couple of weeks though as there are bound to be some bugs - let me know if you encounter any problems, so I can fix them. I'll start a new thread once they are approved.

The way it works now is you need to install the M2 Designer app as well in order to set up your display. Then you copy & paste a profile text string from the Designer app settings to the watchface settings. Interested to hear how well this works for you ...

  • Thank you for all your hard work on this! Very excited to have your watchface back on my watch!! I will most certainly let you know how it works for me.

Posting this for a user called "Felix" (apologies if that isn't one of the users I have linked) - who contacted me via "Contact Developer" but I have no return email to reply (seems to be a bug in the Garmin app currently …)

Yep M1+ can show heart rate for the Vivo 3 – (but only updates once a minute, or every second when you use the glance gesture).

The best explanation for setting up the display with heart rate is here: https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/f/showcase/163882/watchface-m1/909498#909498 Hope that helps!

(There is also the M2 watchface which has a different customisation system using a separate app M2 Designer on your watch, or use the code here: https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/f/showcase/213203/watchface-m2/1005924#1005924

    Thanks,

    Mark.
