Animated Gif as cover in the app store

Hi,

I detected an app which has an animated Gif as cover in the app store. I created also an animated gif with this tutorial:

Directly after uploading still on the edit app's description page the Gif is still animated. But if I publish the new description the gif is still again. Has anyone any idea on that?

No, still transformed to flat image as soon as I upload.

Personally, I find animated gifs really distracting on the main page of the app store. Looks like there is a way some are showing again.

Sorry to "reopen" this thread, but this has been bugging me for a while. I have the same issue as the OP and 9635560, where my GIFs won't work on the cover image. I was reading what jim_m_58 said and it totally makes sense, but either there is a loophole or something needs to be better explained by Garmin (if it is allowed or not, and if yes how to do it).

If you go to the style and substance category, there are several watch faces posted for the first time as soon as Dec/2020 (less than 5 months ago) with the GIFs. So what's the trick here?

Same issue. The suspicious point is my gif is 146kB, near 150kB limit

Yes, but I think it is a way to show more info than a static cover.
