Animated Cover image in App store

Hi Everyone,

I had same issue, like this:
https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/f/discussion/5994/animated-gif-as-cover-in-the-app-store

But I have found a link, what can convert images to correct file.
It is:
https://ezgif.com/gif-to-apng

So, you should convert to APNG, NOT TO GIF!
This is works fine for me.

Bye

  • it'll indeed works with an animated png.

I must say I'm not looking forward to see everyone upload an animated cover, just to show off all the colors their watch face supports. Soon the store will look like a christmas tree, look at the fitbit store to see how horrible that looks.

  • You are so right, may Garmin should has limit the animation period to 1 second (or more) avoid that you mentioned.

  • I think Garmin will like it. They seem to like retro, look at the forum. These animated pics will look so 90-s :)

  • They seem to like retro, look at the forum

I hate to harp on this but before they switched forum platforms a few years ago, I begged them to choose Discourse or NodeBB, modern forum platforms which already solve or avoid a lot of the problems which plagued this platform such as:

    - poor mobile experience

    - poorly implemented infinite scrolling, followed by pagination (neither of these are good, since the latter is clunky and the former makes it hard to jump to a certain point in time within a discussion.) For example, discourse has infinite scroll *and* a scrollbar which lets you quickly jump to any point within a discussion.

    - poor overall experience

    - countless bugs, some of which will never be fixed (like inability to quote emojis, issues viewing comments in the bug reports section)

But instead we get this platform which isn't even good at what it's trying to be.

It's funny, because to a large number of people, forums are already archaic and dead platforms (with the exception of reddit and discord, which aren't exactly the same thing), so at the very least you'd think that Garmin would try to choose one of the most modern options available (which have proven track records). Or maybe they didn't do so for precisely that reason. Forums are archaic, so why bother choosing a modern forum platform?

I'll just say posting here has been an incredibly frustrating experience. At least if it has to be retro, it could be well-implemented and fast. But nope.
