Watch locked after trying to develop app

Hi guys, any of you ever had your watches lock (blank screen, HRM on, no reset/reboot/shutdown, etc) after trying to deploy an app through eclipse?
I have no idea how to fix this, and the issue is on a Fenix Chronos...

any tips?

No, I havent waited for the battery to run out. First, the device should have a hardware override, ie, press A, B and C and it will shutdown no matter what the software is doing (100% hardware = no OS involvement).

Second, I need the watch this week, so I canno wait 7 days for it to restart...
  • Sorry I'm unable to help.

It is my understanding that holding the power/light button for 25+ seconds is that override that you're looking for. As you suggest, I'd expect the long-press of the power/light button to be handled outside the OS. Unfortunately, given what you're seeing, I have doubts that this is the case.

Yeah, probably. Do you think there's a way to get in contact with their dev/engeneering team, via a forum for example? I don't know if they read the posts here.
  • You may get the attention of one of the ConnectIQ developers and they'd be able to communicate with the device team. I think that is about as close as you might get.

  • I have a vague recollection from way way back of having to do a hard rest while the device was plugged into the charging cradle and connected to the PC in order for it to actually recover from the crash that I was causing. I think it was a Fenix 3 that had this issue. It's a long shot but would only cost you 25 more seconds to try.

The problem is, in order to perform any kind of reset, I need to turn the device off, and I just can't do that. The standard procedure, even for the chronos, is to hold the LIGHT/POWER button for 25+ seconds. I did that, both with the device plugged in and not, and nothing happened.

The 25+ second hold is definitely the hardware override that shuts down no matter what the software is doing, so unfortunately it sounds like there is something wrong with this device beyond a software lock up. The leading theory in these cases is usually a faulty key.

You are correct that Product Support will probably just ask you to send the device in to be replaced (after asking you to do all the things you have already tried). I'm sorry I can't provide any more options to try recovering the device. If you purchased the device at a local store, you may be able to exchange it there more quickly than Garmin Product Support can. I know support can usually send out a new device immediately with some sort of hold on your CC while you ship the other one back to speed up the process if desired.

Very well, it's probably faulty then. I've sent it back yesterday, I got it via amazon. I already got another one in the mean time, I should be getting my money back in the next few days.
