Settings in Groups are not persisted

Hi,

I made a watch face where I offer color settings to the user. I grouped all color settings in one group.

When I change the color settings in the group on the connectiq app it works fine and I can save it. But when I open the settings again, all the settings in the group are reset to their default value.

It does not happen with ungrouped settings. Is this a bug or is there a pitfall I don't know?

Thank you so much!

Bob

  • It's a waste of every second to describe what's going on in CIQ in any part (doc, forum, store, api....).

But the worst thing is that someone may not know something (e.g. that there is a bug, although they should guess because not a single test was done :)) and this is not fixed.

  • Hello,

I have a watch face with many options. I really need to group them or the settings list would be infinite.

The issue seems to be unresolved unfortunately.

    Any chance of progress ?

    Thanks,

    Nico

  • I don't think that it'll ever work. Probably they forgot about it already long ago.

  • It's been 8 years since I last released a watchface, so when developing a new one I was just following the documentation which describes groups with no indication that they do not work properly via the mobile apps. The new watchface was released yesterday and the first review is of course complaining about the settings which was the first I had heard about this particular issue. I had tested the settings extensively via the emulator and was also concentrating heavily on allowing configuration via the watchface itself, so hadn't really checked that the mobile Connect apps do what they're supposed to do.

At the very least they should either remove the documentation for groups or add a note with a warning.

  • That's exactly what I am asking for in my last comment here: forums.garmin.com/.../meta-bug-settings-groups

  • I tested it on the off-chance, and to my surprise it seems that the problem has been fixed, so I haven't tested the multi-lingual yet, but I'll finally be able to simplify my menus.

It was a real pain for me to have to put everything on a single page, customising the colours of around twenty parameters mixed in with the location and other parameters...

  • After you finished simplifying them let us know where did you see that it works. Then test it in the other places: android/iOS GCM, GE ;)

Then look at the "meta" bug in the link in the previous comment and test all the other bugs related to settings groups

  • finally I spoke too quickly, if I change the settings, they are taken, but the page is badly initialised

  • I sometimes also thought, that it's fixed. In the end, there were allways users who compleined, that save of settings no longer possible. So I've doubts if Garmin fixed.
