BLE Pairing to GoPro Hero9

Hi,

I'm trying to pair per BLE a Gopro Hero9.

Scanning work.
I could then execute a pairDevice()
and I'm getting an onConnectedStateChanged() with the state connected.

But the Gopro device is not changing in connected mode. So it does not consider as paired. Did I forget something to pair it?

Well, according this posts, the BLE implementation is very incomplete and cannot be used for most of the modern devices.

This would explain that pairing does not work for all of them. Nasty, I was expecting that Garmin provides a better support of BLE.

Actually, CIQ BLE was first added to support new BLE sensors and not BLE in general. I built a couple of apps that used the Raspberry Pi - https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/b/news-announcements/posts/would-you-like-some-raspberry-pi-with-your-connect-iq

And when Alpha Monkey heard about it, his reaction was pretty much "Wow! We hasn't planned that it could be used that way!"

It was never meant to be a full/robust BLE.

Hi jim_m_58, did you happen to open source the code for the BLEScanner? I'm just dipping my toes into the BLE part of the API so I'm looking for any samples I can get since the forum doesn't seem to have much available. I'm trying to see how to categorize scanResults and connect based on uuid, which I'm not sure is the proper method.

It's not open source. Have you looked at the 2 BLE samples in the SDK? They are both for the Nordic Thingy52 and show you how to look for a specific UUID in the scan results.

in BleScan I just skip the UUID check and add everything I see to the list. You can try to pair to any device, but that's it. It doesn't know the BLE profile for the devices so you can't try to read/write any characteristic.

I would strongly recommend getting the HW needed so you can test with the sim. The dongle mentioned in that doc costs about $10 US last I looked.
