Sync problems: Training calendar runs don't show up, workouts don't sync at all

For the past few weeks I've been unable to get my training plan from Garmin Connect to show up correctly on my Forerunner 235. When I navigate on the watch to "Training Calendar", it says to download your training calendar from Garmin Connect. I've tried this a gazillion times. I've wiped the entire watch back to factory settings multiple times, I've canceled and deleted my training plans and restarted with a different plan... without fail, none of the workouts show up in the training calendar on the watch. They are, however, hiding in the workouts section.

I've also discovered that new workouts that I make online with Garmin Connect aren't being synced. I've specifically gone into the app, selected the individual workout, sent it to the device, and Garmin Connect says it worked, the watch shows a transfer successfully finishes... no new workouts.

Anyone else having similar issues? And any idea how to fix it? I'm getting frustrated, the calendar view on the watch is key to keeping me on track.

This is really bad from Garmin. They reply 8 months ago that they will fix it and no response since. Garmin have always been poor when it comes to the software side of things but letting all their customer just try and make workarounds and suggestions for quick fixes for 8 months now, really isn't good enough. I have just bought a fenix 5X and FR245 music and can't sync my calendar. Can we have an update on the work you are doing to resolve things please Garmin?

  • I’m a little sad to say, but as a longtime Garmin user, it was time for me to move on. Rather than purchase the Fenix 6 Pro to replace my Fenix 3, I went with the Polar Vantage.  I can’t support a company that just lets its consumers hang like this (I also picked up the Tag Heuer Connected....pricey, but AMAZING (and not really a comparable fitness watch, but still))

  • I suggest contacting Garmin through their support site using phone, chat, or email - https://support.garmin.com/. Though Garmin staff sometimes reply to messages on this forum, this is a user-to-user community forum.

  • Thanks for the recommendation.  I’ve spent over a year with Garmin by phone and chat (probably about 50 hours worth) and countless emails (actually they were more helpful Through twitter than anything).

  • Even I'm facing the same issue now. Garmin please help

  • This board is almost 8 months old but still no solution?? Come on Garmin! Can anyone help us in this regard?

  • Even I'm facing the same issue now. Garmin please help

  • Thanks for the trick, works!

  • Hi all, I just had contact with Garmin and they told me that you need to install Garmin Express on your pc to sync those workouts to the watch.
    Will try it this evening.

A solution - a variant of what has been suggested above - is to delete the training plan on Connect, then re-add it (simple enough if you're using a Garmin plan, but not so easy if you've spent ages creating one, I guess!).

I guess it considers that the plan has already been sent, and if nothing has changed, it won't send it again? But with watches only holding a month or so's workouts at a time, that's not really practical!
