FW 4.19: Can't save a location. START button does not work

Since the latest update I can't save my location anymore. START button does not react. Any tips on how to solve this or report this?

In which folder does the watch save these locations and is it possible to add them through a USB connection to a PC?

  • This is a frustrating process. Garmin should really consider fire the entire QA team.

  • Those of you were were unsuccessful in saving certain settings: review Can I Back up My Information and Settings on My Garmin Device? once more. Check the last few steps under "How Do I Transfer the Files to a Device?". You must paste the files, not folders, into the Newfiles folder. If you paste the folders, nothing will happen. If you paste the files and they are compatible, they should be distributed properly throughout the device.

  • Doesn't work! And now my watch can't pair with my iPhone after I followed the steps!

  • Is there a better solution for this problem in the next version of the firmware (whenever garmin manages to fix the problems they encountered).
Factory reset isn’t a very user friendly way to solve this and I expect garmin to work on a better solution.

  • I followed your advice and did a reset. Now my forerunner 965 won’t connect to my iPhone anymore. Please also tell how to fix this. You made my watch quite unusable this way.

  • Unbelievable! 3 months and it still has not been fixed! I suggest we all claim for a repair under warranty or a full reimborsement because the product we bought is not working as advertised. Hopefully this will get someone fired.

  • Garmin should have fixed this with an update by now. This is clearly affecting many Garmin users. A factory reset means you lose all of your customised settings. In addition I lost 2000 songs which took ages to.load in on the garmin express. This is not satisfactory. Garmin why can't you sort this out once and for all.

  • Garmin why can't you sort this out once and for all.

Because garmin is more busy with adding BS functions like endurance score (yes, it's completely BS. I'm a bit of an endurance runner and the endurance score doesn't say anything at all)

I wish garmin stopped adding nonsense things for a year or so and fixed the many bugs and sort out the stupid different teams for sport and outdoorsy watches.

In stead of adding endurance score, they could have better added the backup feature (that is in the new fenix beta, but not in the forerunner beta, which is totally unbelievable). With backup/restore a factory reset would have been slightly less of a problem.

  • Garmin you created this problem with a poor untested update and still have not performed an update to correct this issue. A user should not have to perform a factory reset to partially correct the problem, and I would prefer to return the watch instead. Maybe I should stop buying Garmin products due to the failure to correct issues that are generated by poorly tested updates.

  • I am having the exact same issue. Is there another way to fix vs a full restore. I have too many custom fields,  faces, settings that I can't risk losing. Save locations won't work and all my prior saved locations dissapeared!!!! When traveling saved locations is a must! Please help!
