Forerunner 955 Golf App - Shot measurement and Auto Shot Detection is not working after latest software update. I tried to manually measure a shot but that does not work either.

  • If it's not showing an activity, it's because the default now on all golf devices is that activity recording is turned off.  This is even the case on the S62.

    To enable activity recording, highlight "Golf" in your activity list press hold the menu button.  Select "Golf Settings", and turn on "Record Activity".  

    You have to do this by bringing up Golf Settings before starting a round.  The Record Activity option isn't available once a round has been started.

    Not quite sure why they turned this off by default, or even why they gave the option to turn this off.

  • I think the option to turn it off is a request by golf cart users. In any case they should mention it properly in the owners manual, and along with the fact that this option disappears once you're inside the Golf app.

    I don't think there are any other options which disappear in this manner.

  • Good point on the golf carts.  I hadn't thought about that.  Still a golf round, but not much "activity".  

    I suspect the lack of option to enable it once the round has started likely has to do with the complexity of beginning recording once the round has started.  There is no other activity profile that works that way, where you can start recording after the "start" button has been pressed.  Just a hunch.  It'd still be nice to have it there with a warning that it will take effect on your next round.  As currently stands, it's not overly discoverable.

  • Hey, yes it does record the activity for me. Unfortunately missed the prompt to end the round and it tracked my drive home too!

  • hah! That has happened to me in the past.. I remember there was no "trim activity" option which is available on some other activities. That's actually a legitimate feature request to have Trim Activity option for golf.

    also having the same issue. Very frustrating. Scorecard shows but no shot tracker. Bought this watch 955 for that feature. Very disappointed with garmin 

  • Can you please advise on how to go about a refund if I purchased this watch from a third party seller ? Its ridiculous at this stage how this has not been fixed. I am gonna return it as its not fit for purpose.
