Open Street Maps vs Open Topo Maps - what is the difference?

Both are based on the same data (OpenStreetMap), but different styling and labeling.

I use OpenTopoMap, because I prefer their download system (two files for each country - map + countours) and data visualization (but sometimes, especially in the center of the city, labels with long street names cover he entire area of the map and then is not readable.

In second source, you can customize area, which you want, but you have to remember that each area is saved in a separate file. Also you can choose map type (Generic Routable, Generic Routable (new style), Routable Bicycle (Openfietsmap Lite), Generic Nautical (non-routable)
Transparent overlay with elevation contours).

That's quite a bold statement. I have no problems with my maps. I see there are some who are having problems with the European maps, but what makes you say Garmin is doing nothing about it?  Do you have some inside information the rest of us are unaware of, or are you making unsubstantiated remarks because it hasn't been fixed in a timely fashion for you?

So I guess OP is quite entitled to say they are not really doing anything about it. There's nothing bold about it.

This issue has impact even on functionalities directly not related to maps data and still we don't know what Garmin is doing to fix it and when we can expect fix, so we can be annoyed.

Good for you. But that problem was already on older maps, so it's not anything new. It's just the map updates does something that makes the watch totally borked and slow.

No. The issue arouse 10 - TEN - months ago (give or take), see post above.

And I think I got hit with error first time around 7 months ago.

And this is exactly what I was trying to point out. We don't know what Garmin is doing for a fix or how far they are from correcting it. If you're going to say Garmin is doing nothing about it, please explain how you know this. Otherwise, it's a false accusation.  If this is the case, it's sad that people can justify unsubstantiated comments based on their frustration.

I understand the the topic perfectly. I also understand the importance of stating facts. Let's take the view of two different individuals. I have the issue and I read in the forum Garmin is doing nothing to fix it. Well, if this is true, I have a problem.  So, I want confirmation this is the case so I can proceed accordly. Secondly, I'm a Garmin engineer working on the issue. I don't need to read that I'm doing nothing if it isn't true. It's irrelevant if it's been an issue for 10 days or 10 months.  If you have knowledge Garmin isn't doing anything tells us how you know. If you don't, then it's misinformation that helps no one, but causes animosity.
