Total external comms dropout on 4.0

On my run yesterday, I noted a period of about 3.5 minutes where all external comms was lost.

The 945 lost connection to my BT headphones, the HRM-Run over ANT+ and the Stryd FP over ANT+

After the 3.5 mins, they all reconnected.

During the outage the watch continued recording and switched to internal sensors for HR, pace and cadence. GPS continued recording the whole time.

The 945 is running FW 4.00 with GPS 2.70 Ant/BT 5.01 and SensorHub 3.20

Former Member - Should I report this to the support email alias, or is mentioning it here good enough?

I can provide a link to the run over DM on request.

  • I actually sent mine in for a replacement. I had a support ticket for mushy buttons active. Wasn’t sure if I wanted to part with my watch over such a small problem. It didn’t really bother me that much. But with this drop-out problem.... Worth a try right?

Judging by this past post it is definitely worth a try as I think it will resolve your connection issues. After you've received your new watch and had time to test please could you update this thread with the results?

  • Im not able to find ANT+ Tempe via search all as well as Search Tempe.

All up to date. Inlcuding restarts.

    FW 4.1

    GPS 2.7

    BLE/ANT 5.01

    SensorHub 3.2

  • Hi!

    Same problem here!

My Stryd pod disconnects and my HRM-Run is no longer able to pair anymore.

    Answering @Garmin-Blake's questions:

    - Paired sensors: Stryd, Tempe and HRM-Run

    - Do all sensors drop?: Stryd and HRM-Run, yes. Unsure about Tempe as I don't know how to check it because connection drops are less than 20 seconds and, as far as I know, Tempe broadcasts only every 60 seconds

    - App to see drops: Stryd Powercenter web and Garmin Connect web

    - Indoor or outdoor: I only run outdoors

    - Consistent timeframe: not that I know

    - Software and hub versión: sw 4.10, hub 3.2, ANT/BLE 5.01

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Here’s an update on this. Recieved a new unit yesterday and have been out on three runs. Zero drop-outs! So this is most probably hardware error.

    Firmware 4.10

    GPS: 2.70

    Sensor hub: 3:20

  • Agree - I've been on two runs on 4.1, and haven't seen a single drop out yet on my RD Pod.  Bonus, my battery life is decent again too.  Here's to hoping the major bugs are now done and over with this watch!

Did you get a replacement watch or did you just upgrade your existing watch firmware to 4.10?

  • Just upgraded from 4.0.  Watch is relatively new, though; bought the week of Thanksgiving during the sale, and it's the D revision.  My wife's 945 is also showing the same improvements as mine (yes, Santa came early for us, LOL).

Good stuff - glad its working out for you both. I guess its given me a bit more motivation to upgrade the firmware.
