[17.24][17.26] Lags, Freezes and missing data

Since the update to 17.24/17.26 my Forerunner 255 shows several bugs:

  • Starting the morning report today lead to extremely laggy behaviour. Every interaction/loading of a new page took minutes(!), with even getting stuck in the transition between the morning report pages (showing half of the previous page and have of the following page for a minute).
    After i got to restart it, it was working again, but i noticed the watch drained 28% of battery within less than 24h, with only a 20min activity tracked.
  • Some days before the watch froze completely upon starting the morning report and restarted itself.
  • Twice in the last days it lost data from the past night: heartrate, body battery and stress data is missing in Garmin Connect from exactly midnight until the first wake phase. HRV however is there.

Am I the only one encountering those issues?

  • Maybe the watch wants some data (weather, calender) from the phone for the morning report.

  • I have my Bluetooth always connected and my morning report is totally fine. Maybe the watch can fetch weather or calendar data just fine because I plug in my phone so it stays awake as so does the Garmin Connect app? But it is interesting that this problem only exists when the Bluetooth is on.

  • Update from my side for my 255S Music: UI and battery has been fine last night and today, 87% last night midnight, 80% 10 pm today. Whatever is causing the problem seems intermittent (the hardest ones to debug). I have also not changed anything in my watch settings or my phone settings. I will continue to monitor it and post any updates here. 

  • this morning, before the morning report my watch was frozen. I turned off bluetooth on my phone and the watch crashed and rebooted. I have no data from overnight.

  • Day time freezes are solved bt turning the bluetooth off and on. I also saw 2 different kinds, on one case watch face was completely frozen and on the other case i saw watch face was updating every 3 seconds.

    Both of the freezes happened when i was getting frequent whatsapp messages in short time.

    Can this be related with the phone side too ? Because my 255s no music is not happy with my samsung s21, but my wifes 255s no music is happy with her xiaomi mi11 lite

  • Do you have battery saver mode activated on your phone?

  • Sleep data & score, HRV does not synced to Connect ( already logged out and in again, also resintall Connect too, but did not help)

    Morning report was ok as usual and sleep data and score is on the watch. Just Connect does not sync them....
