[17.24][17.26] Lags, Freezes and missing data

Since the update to 17.24/17.26 my Forerunner 255 shows several bugs:

  • Starting the morning report today lead to extremely laggy behaviour. Every interaction/loading of a new page took minutes(!), with even getting stuck in the transition between the morning report pages (showing half of the previous page and have of the following page for a minute).
After i got to restart it, it was working again, but i noticed the watch drained 28% of battery within less than 24h, with only a 20min activity tracked.
  • Some days before the watch froze completely upon starting the morning report and restarted itself.
  • Twice in the last days it lost data from the past night: heartrate, body battery and stress data is missing in Garmin Connect from exactly midnight until the first wake phase. HRV however is there.

Am I the only one encountering those issues?

  • Me too. Lag on notifications after a little while, up to a point where I need to hard reset it. Big QA fail on this one.

  • Yes I'm having the same problems, battery life was one of the big things for me but now that is gone. The freezing issue is every morning after sleep for me ( I don't wear it while sleeping)

  • +1 to that.  Watch is totally unresponsive once I try to interact with morning report.  Comes back about 10m later and is 'fine' after that

  • Yes, same problem here. Battery drained and morning report makes watches unresponsive for minutes. HRV data missing.

  • I had battery drain problem too. But it seems it doesn't repeats anymore. Additionally there is no GCT Balance for my last running. I was using HRM PRO.

  • Same here after the last update. No issues with previous version. how do I downgrade???

  • My watch is basically unusable now. Has there been an update from Garmin about a fix ?

  • I am having exactly the same problem since the upgrade! When I wake up, I see the "morning report" screen but nothing happens if I push on any button. If I take my watch off, then eventually the morning report screen disappears (without me taking any action) and the watch goes to normal mode. But shockingly the battery this morning was down to 34% when I charged it yesterday to 100%! With zero activity (was sitting on train all day). Hopefully they come with a fix for this soon, something is really gone very wrong with the latest software release!

Does anyone know if you can roll back to a previous relsease?

  • Didn't realized battery drain, checked after reading this post and yeah same. I only saw watch freezes in morning report page. Weirdly it's not doing anything if i press any button, but if background light is off it's turning on. So it's still getting the key events.

My wife also have the same model but different color 255s watch, she didn't encounter any of these problems after updates

  • I have encountered similar errors.Today morning when I have opened Garmin Connect there is a gap in data synchronization (sleep, HR, stress level, body battery etc) between 0:30 and 7:15 when I woke up. Since the morning, the data has been synchronizing correctly, but the gap in the app remains. I can see data for the entire missing period in the watch, but not in the application. I tried standard methods (restarting the phone and watch, re-pairing, etc.) but nothing helps. Of course, this distorts the data for the whole day because, for example, the stress level is high and it looks as if I had not rested at all.
