We recommend replacing the batteries & performing a reverse polarity on your Heart Rate Monitor (HRM) by following the steps below.
Please follow the steps below to perform a Reverse Polarity on your…
Exact same issue here, and it used to work fine. Now it connects, shows say 72bpm for a few seconds, then nothing more. Have done the battery-flip reverse polarity solution, no joy. This is also with a…
yea I have the same problem. Sent it back under warranty, get a 'new?' one.... same problem
Yes, buying a new one.. the Pro.
I'm really bored, i've edge and fenix.. no problem, never
This is the worst money spent.
this worked for me. customer service wanted me to buy another one but in a last ditch effort I tried this. tks.
looks like Garmin did this on purpose to get people change their hrm dual to hrm pro. Mine also stopped working after the update.
Sorry, but: ***.
Fist of all, the HRM Dual is still sold. No use to deactivate Duals for existing users, when they will buy a new one.
Second, I have a HRM Dual in use for biking and rowing (and HRM Pro for running). It has the latest firmware and works fine. Absolutely no issues.
Even the old HRM-1 from 2011 still works perfectly fine.
Yeah, the exact same problem happened to me, I'm going to send it back under warranty. 72bpm and everything.
I had my HRM when I purchased my Garmin Edge 520 some years ago. That last me maybe 5 years then in 2021 it stopped working and purchased a new one (newer model). I just now gave up on it after replacing the batteries 3 times in the last 2 months. One thing I did notice is that the mounts for the screws become brittle with time, likely due to sweat making its way into the device via the screws. This happened to both of my sensors and had to put electrical tape as one or two of the mounts completely came off. I was expecting that to last me another 5, unfortunately it only lasted 2 :-(
I'm not going to bother getting the Pro and might look for an alternative HR strap designed a little better and compatible with my garmin.
Hi. That dues t work and I don’t see how it would. If you flip the battery the positive side will contact the + and - terminals. It won’t reverse the polarity. Thus only works with hyperdrives in Star Wars
Star wars... hyperguide!! Win!!!
ChristoMB's procedure does work, but indeed has nothing to do with the polarity of the battery. You could use anything that is electrically conductive to bridge the + and - terminals so capacitors discharge and the sensor boots up without possibly retaining a previous state it was in. Using the inverted battery is convenient, it is at hand anyway, and can't inadvertently cause damage as it has no sharp edges. (Not taking into account you could accidentily short the battery.)
The procedure with the inverted battery has been around for decades, maybe related to when most (sports) watches were working on CR232 batteries, they could retain time and settings while changing the battery, so to get rid of those settings you would flip the battery for a moment.
