Vivoactive 4 Battery Drain

Since the recent software update to 5.6 my battery lasts for less than 4 days. it was initially atleast 6 days. I do not have any app/fancy watch face. I mostly use Garmin for steps tracking and heart rate. I dont know what in recent update is causing this battery drain. it seems to be getting worse. is anyone else facing this issue?

  • Doesn’t look like they’ve addressed the high power mode backlight issue yet :(

  • They already fixed the PulseOX issue in Beta 6.05 after you mentioned it! That was quick response.

oh that's nice, I was writing bug reports to them about it and wasn't even aware that new version appeared, that's really cool to see that they react to issues and user feedback. I'm going to give it a try.

  • Are there any updates yet? There definitely seems to be something related to the backlight and high power mode. It’s fine with the backlight turned off, but there are times I’d like it on! Thanks.

  • My watch is brand new and the battery was lasting around 5-6 days. It did an update yesterday and now is dead in 1 day.. Any suggestions or should I just call? Considering I changed no features it had to be the update.

  • This seems to happen every time there are upgrades. It is not the new software that is the problem, but the upgrade process that can go wrong. Try to do a restart. If that doesn't help, you need a harder restart.

  • After a few restarts and adding my wifi to my known connections it seems to be okay so far. Even did an activity without the battery draining. Thanks!

  • Are there any updates after I provided logs? The issue for me was definitely having the backlight on (and turning it all the way down), with the device being stuck in high power mode.

the watch has been fine since I turned it off. I might try and turn it on again now I’ve updated, but it would be good to hear if this has been fixed or not.

    thanks

  • I got huge battery drain after 6.10 update.
I did hard reset two times, even downgrade to 5.80 - but autoupdate installed 6.10 again.
Watch can't even last one day!
Everyone have idea what's going on?

  • I lost about 20% from 5 days to 4 days (1-1.2% per hour) with the “update” from 5.60 to 5.80… So far 6.10 is approx 2% an hour so pretty much another 50% loss. 4s with stock face, no pulse ox, average of 1 hour gps per day. Was great on 5.60 but now absolute crap and no change to my usage pattern. Must be Garmins way of forcing people to buy a new device !

  • 6.10 update for 4s also drains battery considerably. Disaster!
