Vivoactive 4 Battery Drain

Since the recent software update to 5.6 my battery lasts for less than 4 days. it was initially atleast 6 days. I do not have any app/fancy watch face. I mostly use Garmin for steps tracking and heart rate. I dont know what in recent update is causing this battery drain. it seems to be getting worse. is anyone else facing this issue?

  • If you search the forum, you will find the same reaction from watch owners at EVERY single firmware release. For most watch owners, there are no battery drain issues. Your drain probably has nothing to do with 6.10 itself, but rather that the installation of 6.10 went wrong.

  • I'd argue that it's not a failure of firmware otherwise there would be no such posts. if it's really the problem of badly installed firwmare maybe its integrity checking procedures could be improved or new methods of installing should be pushed.

Just from yesterday I've those weird problems myself, and my discharge rate was actually rather low before that for a few days running 6.10 and then suddenly out of nowhere I've got discharge rate of 2% per hour and before that my watch used up 60% per night...

I'm trying to exclude the factors which could influence it so far but people who's posting such threads surely not imagining things.

  • I can confirm nothing has changed on 6.10 - if the backlight is turned on in settings (even if set to 0%) then the battery drains overnight (I went from 80% to 40%).

I’m going to have to turn it off again.

  • Regarding updating your device to software 6.10. I am going to close this thread. If you are experiencing this issue can you please post on one of the most recent threads. I am gathering information regarding this and would like to keep it all together in one place as this will make it easier to track feedback from folks who are using the most recent update.
