Vivoactive 4 Battery Drain

Since the recent software update to 5.6 my battery lasts for less than 4 days. it was initially atleast 6 days. I do not have any app/fancy watch face. I mostly use Garmin for steps tracking and heart rate. I dont know what in recent update is causing this battery drain. it seems to be getting worse. is anyone else facing this issue?

  • Last night i did not wear my watch and the drain was 2%.

With wearing the watch the drain is 50%.

I am sure it is the sleep tracking

  • Coulddn't it also be related to the heart rate sensors? They turn off when you take the watch off. Have you checked if they are blinking or solid on at night?

  • OK so the problem of discharging at night is back (-30% this night). I could also see that the display was in "Full power" mode this morning (so the display was updating every second) until i turned the watch completely off. After reboot it worked normally again. I guess the watch just gets stuck in full power mode in the evening for some reason. Yesterday i had around 3 activities, one with GPS on.

    What i've done so far:

    - Reset the watch completely

    - Changed to stock watchface

    - turned gestures off

Any advice from garmin support where we can send logs or something ? Do you work on this problem ?

  • I Have the same problem. Battery used to last 4-5 days, now not even a day. So frustrated. I have tried everything. Basic watch face, reset, backlight off...nothing works.

  • Seeing all those "Battery Drain" threads over different Garmin device forums, I wonder why there is no usage page in Garmin Connect like on iPhone or Android where you can just see what did use battery...

  • In order to track what is using power, you need to have some sort of power manager built into the device by design from scratch. I doubt that the Garmin watches can do this. It can track how fast the battery drains, but probably not what feature used it. And even if they had it, it would probably not work for those who have the biggest issues, as it is usually caused by the system being in some failure state.

  • My androidwear watch and Galaxy watch both had this ability.

  • Yes, but they have a different operating system.

  • I suggest you all open a ticket with garmin support, so they see there is a problem.

I don't think they are taking this issue seriously.

  • they have a different operating system.

Yes, that was my point. If androidwear and tizen can do it then surely Garmin can do it.
