Vivoactive 4 Battery Drain

Since the recent software update to 5.6 my battery lasts for less than 4 days. it was initially atleast 6 days. I do not have any app/fancy watch face. I mostly use Garmin for steps tracking and heart rate. I dont know what in recent update is causing this battery drain. it seems to be getting worse. is anyone else facing this issue?

This is a joke now - why is nobody listening?

It's not PulseOX! We all know exactly what it is—we just need Garmin to fix it.

The watch gets stuck in "high power mode" when in DND. I recorded a video which I emailed to you which shows it very clearly when using a watch face that only shows seconds when in "high power mode" - it should show seconds for 10 seconds, but instead remains on.

  • Hey! There are multiple people on this thread we are trying to help. I have to make sure its not other features causing battery drain so I can better assist you. If it were not that causing the issue, I can email you to get this sorted. It was mentioned above to be sure to remove any downloaded watch faces and apps to the watch for a few days. Have you done this yet? I also want to mention, Any use of profanity or aggression towards moderators or other users will result in a ban in the future. Either temporary or permanent depending on number of infractions.

  • Garmin-AmberD i did not receive any email from you. What can I do? Every night (and only in the night) the battery drain is about 50%. The only change at night is DND on. I have no watch face or stuff like tihs, i never downloaded anything. Please help us

  • It looks like you are posting on 2 different threads which causes confusion. I just responded to you on the other one. Can we stick with one so I do not have to ask you the same questions. I know that can be frustrating. I see you are not using CIQ, thank you. Disregard my other post. You should get an email in a few minutes.

  • Hello, Garmin support,

I have the same issue. Before the update to 5.8, my watch had power for 5 to 6 days. Only after the update to 5.8, my watch only lasts 2 days! I haven't changed anything, it is only due to the update. I do not have the pulse-ox on. Please help! I think we need a new update from garmin, and yes, it has everything to do with the update and nothing more

  • OK so this night i disabled DND and i had normal drain again (without any other changes).

I have this behaviour with and without custom Watchface, however with custom Watchface its much more notable because this drains the battery more in general.

    Can someone confirm this ?

@Garmin Forum Support: Is this handled by a developer ? I don't think its just a random occurance because a lot of people have this problem and its also happening through the night for most people (without PulseOx). Maybe a problem with DND/Sleep Tracking/Bluetooth or whatever.

  • I have no problem at all. I have a custom watch face (Crystal), I use PulseOx while sleeping and I have DND while sleep on. Additionally I lock the watch while sleeping. Battery drops about 5-10% per night... about 20% per day usage...

  • I also have no issues. DND during sleep, no pulse OX, no bluetooth, no gesture, no IQ watch face.

  • This night I disabled DND and I had again the problem with the drain (50%).

It does not depend whether DND is on or off

  • I would also like to add in that my watch is getting significantly worse battery life at night since the update. I have done a full reset and used default settings. No custom watch face. While it’s not 50% overnight it’s like 2+% per hour while in the day it’s .6% per hours.

Previously it was around .5% day or night. Should I call support?
