vivoactive 4/4s SW 4.00 is now live

This update can be downloaded with Garmin Express or automatically with Garmin Connect Mobile.

Change Log v.4.00:

  • Fixed a possible battery drain with Bluetooth
  • Enabled heart rate during swim activities
  • Added speed fields to standup paddle boarding activity
  • Improved calendar user interface
  • Improved weather forecast timezone handling
  • Added vertical speed fields to run and bike activities
  • Fixed an issue with GPS turning on for all Connect IQ apps
  • Fixed a possible crash with WiFi
  • Fixed an issue with treadmill calibration not working
  • Fixed an issue with incoming call notifications not dismissing
  • Improved the number picker user experience
  • Increased the amount of data shown in Body Battery and Stress widgets
  • Added support for abnormal low heart rate alerts
  • Added heart rate graph to activity summary
  • An hour to get from 20% to 100% sounds pretty good.   That is not out of line with what I experience charging from a computer USB port.  Mine is behaving pretty well today.  0.84% per hour since the last charge.

It bricked my Vivoactive 4. Thanks, Garmin.

  • It just prompted me to install an update although I’m still on version 4 which is strange.

I’m also so disappointed to see that the notification style is the same, I’ve been waiting for an update with the hope it will have changed! Also find it so strange that not many people are talking about this. So frustrating not being able to read a notification without having to scroll through to your notifications, can’t just tap on it from the watch face screen! It really reduces the usability for me, I may as well just check my phone for notifications and have a cheaper fitness tracker.

  • I believe it was only GPS software update

  • The last gps update bricked my LEDs... Had to RMA. These things are buggy.

  • Hello Denise, I have the exact same experience as you and i have now replaced my watch 4 times and talking to Garmin to replace it the 5th time. They have agreed everytime that this is not normal behaviour so they are willing to exchange the watch but seriously, changing the watch 4 times and still no improvement! Maybe it is my use case (working out 4 times a week) but i wonder if they are not willing to accept that this affects the battery life so much, on some of their defective pieces. I do believe we are the unlucky ones who ended up with a defective batch.

  • Can you please tell me how you check the battery usage? Thanks

  • I think a lot of people use the Battery Widget downloadable from the Connect IQ app store.  Once installed on watch, tap on the widget to see more detailed info.

  • Yep, same as RunnerM. It’s a Battery widget installed through connectIQ. Lots of quite useful data.

    • That sounds awful, Harry! They offered to replace mine as well but I was afraid it would take a long while and the new one would likely do the same. I think you are right about them being a bad batch. Occasionally I think it seems like it might be better and then it inevitably jumps for no reason at all, as it has in the past few days, to using 2% per hour while doing nothing. So disappointing.
