  • Hi, may I ask what is this app showing these detailed data on battery?

I use this app by ''dsapptech''
    apps.garmin.com/.../a9c9b981-1f4c-4399-a270-7d6c7317893e

  • I've never used music apps too. They were pre-installed or came with some watch update. Uninstalling them fixed the battery issue for me. Now battery consumes 7-9% per 24h with my usage.

  • Unfortunately it doesn't work for me. I've uninstalled all unnecessary apps in very beginning when was trying to figure out how to fix the problem.

  • Ok, I was wrong. The issue reappeared after my phone (Huawei P30 Pro) got a major update and restarted. Then the watch asked PIN for pairing, because somehow I have to re-pair it every time after the phone restart or bluetooth connection is lost. And after that it started eating the battery like crazy again. But I found temporary workaround. If you in the Battery Manager settings toggle Battery Saver option (make sure it is applied and it shows "eco" watch face) and then untoggle it. Then battery consumption is back to normal. But if bluetooth connection is lost (e.g. phone is restarted, airplane mode) the issue will reappear, and you will have to toggle/untoggle this option again. So it is something with initial bluetooth connection and toggling/untoggling Battery Saver option fixes that for some time.

I thought it is related to music apps. But I underestimated the fact that when I was uninstalling these apps, the watch was in Battery Saver mode (it switched automatically because battery was too low).

  • I spoke with garmin support and was given a beta version of software to upgrade to. Now my watch has dropped from 76% to 42% in approximately 4 days. Also did a lot of activities during this time.

  • Have the same issue.

I have uninstalled all Connect-IQ content and done a complete firmware reset + Garmin Connect re-installation. Firmware is version 8.12.

    My settings are:

    DND:On (11pm-6am)
    Always on:Off
    Gesture:On, short
    SpO2:off
    Move IQ:off
    Display brightness: low
Bluetooth: always connect to my phone but over night there is no connection
    WLAN: not configured
    Notification: approx. 20
Watch Face: Stock / no motion
    Heart rate: on(auto)
    Physio TrueUp:off
    GPS: off
    Training sessions: 0
    Music: off
    Audio volume: muted
Calls: 0 (phone call connection disabled inside smartphone settings)
Over night (without connection) the drain is only 2..3%. This is what I would expect and fits to the internal runtime estimation.
During the day (with Bluetooth connection) the Venu 2 Plus drains approximately 1% per hour. The Bluetooth connection is stable, messages are displayed immediately. The power save options inside Android never stop Garmin Connect.
I've tested the drain influence of the most configuration options. Every changed setting (SpO2, Always on, ...) changed the estimation in a real amount. Only Bluetooth does not fit. If Bluetooth is "off" the total estimation is correct and I got the displayed 8..9 days runtime. But this is no smartwatch use case and no option for me.
  • OMG! It's *** working! After switching Battery Saver on and off my watch spent only 5% of battery charge after 36 hours from last charging. For now estimated life time from one charge is 30 days!!!

    OMG once again!

  • Now I found the reason for the drain inside my Venu 2+.

My intension for choosing the Venu 2+ was to use the phone call functionality only during activities. But inside the Venu, there is no switch to disable this feature. The only way to manage this is to disable Bluetooth completely but with this setting you also get no smart messages -> no option for me.

As I wrote I've disabled the phone call connection therefor by disable this inside the Bluetooth settings in the smartphone. If I do that, the Bluetooth connection inside the Venu is displayed as connected, the call functionality (number block, ...) is greyed and the connection inside the phone is displayed as not connected but messages are displayed immediately inside the Venu and synchronization with Garmin Connect is also no problem.

Yesterday I'm wondering why the battery drain is about 0.5% per hour (= 8 days) and found out, that I forgot to disable this setting inside my phone at the last day. The Venu 2+ was connected all the time and and has much less drainage as if not connected. After this I disabled the Bluetooth call setting inside the smartphone and the drainage increases to 1% per hour (= 4 days).

It seems to be, that the Venu 2+ all the time try to connect to the smartphones call functionality and waste a lot of energy for this.

@GARMIN: Please integrate a switch to disable only the call functionality during activated Bluetooth connection. I can not imagine that all the users want to use this feature all the time. Give us the option to use the Venu 2+ like a standard Venu 2. We know, it's the first time that GARMIN integrate such functions inside a smartwatch and GARMIN is still learning. At the moment, the firmware is far from perfect.

For me, I have now to decide what is more important, operation time or the call functionality. Should I wait for a solution or should I try the Venu 2(-) or the Epix 2.

  • Hello all,

We currently have a Beta software that many (but not all) users have found resolves their battery drain issue.  Please see the link below to install this software and be sure to let us know (in this thread) if this resolves your battery drain issue:

New Venu 2 Plus Public Beta 9.11 Available

We understand that this Beta sw will not resolve all battery drain issues for everyone, so we would really appreciate your feedback either way after installing the Beta sw.

  • Hello

I also having this issues with battery drain last night (did not wear the watch) with 30% and in 7 hours found the watch dead ...the issues must be with the Bluetooth it's losing connecting between  watch -phone or it's the Garmin connect app that has bugs also...

I confirm that I'm not using power saving watch or phone all disabled

Heart rate in the Garmin connect app does not work most of the times the slider you have to force stop the garmin connect app

    proof

When I have earbud Bluetooth connected to the phone and in call and finish running activity and the watch is connected to the phone start sync and slider remains at half until I end the call...this never happen on Venu 2 watch or others ..did some testing with some friends watch

I did report to local support

Can you please give to the developers ?
