Definitely try the new Beta Software (8.05).
I don't have the Venu 2 Plus, but rather the Venu 2, and the last beta firmware fixed exactly what you describe here, and I had with my watch. I went from 3…
I also experienced battery drain and strange drops in battery percentage and decided to monitor it.
After full reset and update to firmware 7.40:
Thursday 27 Jan. 17:00 100%
Monday 31 Jan. 9:55 0%

UPDATE (7Feb)
After a period of high battery drain I reset the watch to full factory settings on 3 Feb. This did not solve the problem. I again reset the watch on 5 Feb before recharging, and then reset…
I am also having the same issue with my Venu 2 Plus. On the first charge I got about 8 days worth of battery life. However, since then it averages around 4 days with factory settings and low to moderate use. Usually the battery drain occurs at least once per charge cycle and always at night. Last night for example, I went to bed with 42% battery, woke up with 19%. I downloaded the battery graph app to monitor this. It shows a steep decline in battery life from about 50%.
My wife got this and had the same battery issue. Talked to Garmin and got another one, and it's doing the same exact thing. Talked with support, they had me delete some files, and still the battery is not lasting. This watch was the reason that she got rid of her apple watch. If we knew Garmin was actually looking at this issue we might keep it, but I don't know
I had the same issue. After some update the battery couldn't last more than 2 days. None of suggestion worked except turning off bluetooth. But that defeats the purpose of a smatwatch, because you will not have notifications, no sync with the phone, etc. I was playing around with different settings, and I finally fixed it. I just uninstalled all music apps using Garmin Connect IQ app (in my case Spotify and Deezer). And it helped. Yesterday I went to sleep around 12 AM, battery was at 63%. This morning (10 AM) it is still at 63%!!! I think there is some bug with music synchronization and it tries to sync the music constantly and that drains the battery.
Well...I did some testing myself...I charged the watch completely and took it off when going to sleep and today which is my 7th day it still has 17% of juice! I never managed to get this before, I got to 4-5 days luckily! So I guess that the problem might also be during the night...something happens that drains the battery...I will keep doing this until Garmin finds a solution to all this mess if it ever does...Not a big deal not to sleep with my watch...

we finally figured out how to fix this issue! After sending 2 watches back for doing the same thing along with contacting garmin and no fix, we got a Coros Vertix watch and haven't looked back. When Garmin figures this out, maybe we'll come back but they can't even recognize that there is an issue, so we couldn't wait for them to simply say, "we're working on it"

Your theory may be correct because i never use any music app and i have fantastic battery life, around 10 days.
