Make sure that if the radar is mounted below a saddle bag that the bag cannot hit the on/off button when riding on rough terrain.
I thought the very same thing when this first starting happening especially to notice that when the connection was restored that the light mode had changed from my original. Then I removed my seat bag to have the same thing happen. I'm hoping the Garmin Support suggestions will work. I have never cleared all of those folders from my 520+
Is the Radar connected as both a radar and as part of light network? If it is not connected as a light network then the light mode can only change by actions on the radar. This would imply that something might be wrong with the radar switch.
That's a good point and a good question. I dont think I know how to determine if it's connected via a light network.

I'm guessing it is just paired as a radar as this is the default unless you put the radar into pairing mode.
I’v got my Radar connected as a light but I can confirm its behavior was bad with 12.30... I hope it gets better again with current rollback update 12.40
