I don't think there is E3 on the way anytime soon.
Your question is difficult to answer....but in general, I find it hard to recommend EE2.

I can explain : I wanna a gps for my trips abroad, I lake a lot of Bikepacking and bike Touring outside of my country.

I need a gps computer can be able to make a route on fly without smartphone internet connection, like I said...outside of my country and when I'm arrive home I no want surprises on communication bill at the final of the month.

I no need training stats and the only sensor I use on wahoo bolt is the speed sensor.

I like the wahoo, the only problem is I need to make all the routes before I start the route, and the majority of the hotels, hostels. campsites I cannot sync a route with komoot.

another feature I see very useful for me on Garmin is the points of interest on map, on wahoo I no have.

because all this I think on this model, have everything I need, if everything working I'm sorted .

EE2 could work for that. 
I have never created a route on the device itself. I use my favorite phone app with offline maps, create a route, export gpx and send it via garmin companion to EE2. That worked for me. 

ok, I'm go waiting into the final of July, if no have any news from a new EE3 ...I buy this one.

I cannot find any clarify video on youtube show a person make a route on this device without acess to internet.
