Hi I’ve updated my edge 830 and it’s turning off and on mid ride. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Is there a fix?
Thanks

All,
I'm currently waiting on a reply to see what information I will need from you. Once I hear back, I will update this thread.
Please reply back with a Yes if I can email you directly.
I am facing the same now as well. My Garmin is restarting on almost every ride. Anyone found a solution to it?
You can email me directly, yes
Hi Geeka99,
yes, it happened to me this summer, however it was able to pickup but lost the workload metrics, which si shameful. It'd be nice if Garmin-Eiliko posts any relevant procedure what and where to upload for Garmin to check once the device, unit misbehaves like described.
I’ve logged it ticket with them and sent them the details from my ride. They are investigating. I’ll post back here if they give me a fix.
Happaned to me twice last three months of usage. Edge 840, reboots mid-ride, after waking up I didn't notice the loss of data and continued the activity (I did however, lose a bit during the time it was rebooting).
My 830 has auto rebooted mid ride twice in the last month on the beta software. Prior to that is was just random sensor dropouts. After 8.1 came out and the dropouts started I went back to 7.1 and stayed with it until about three months ago without a single dropout. When I have a few hours to restore everything I'll be going back to 7.1. I'm not aware of any useful features that I'll miss other than the chevrons to the stored routes.
Edge 830, also in beta program 9.75, and a couple of reboots in the past month, one of them today.
Hydration and nutrition info from before the crash is lost, but everything else I'm interested in was still ok, other than a sudden 40m drop in elevation. GPS was on, but not following a course.
In Australia, yes you can email me Garmin.
After a couple of months in the beta I went back to 7.1 today. Restored all my settings. Possible missing a few features but I'm sure I'll be back to a stable device.
My mid-ride crash report and the consequences of the crash is about a 530, but since 530 and 830 have the same sw, I guess their crashes have the same root cause.
I do not know the sales data of 530 and 830, but it seems to me that more 830 users have reported crashes than 530 owners have.
It is a good idea, but what if some incorrect timestamp causes the crash.
In my betting I rely on the fact that people with powermeter reported not just the loss of physio measures after the crash and reboot, but an incorrect FTP. Since my fake FTP was higher than my 1 second max power, I guess that when it estimated my FTP 530 got confused not with the nominator, but the denominator, which is time.
Do you a powermeter, too, Artem? And if so, also you face with incorrect, abnormally high automatic FTP detection?
Yes, me too. Annoying. I have to start it again and sometimes it does not record entire ride. Such disappointment
