Ride upload issue while connected to WiFI and Bluetooth

I’ve noticed that with WiFi and Bluetooth enabled if I get home from a ride the Garmin does not auto upload and shows sync failed. If I end my ride while riding home before I’m in range of my home WiFi the ride will upload without an issue. I assume that there is a problem uploading while connected to my home WiFi and connected to my iPhone. Anyone else seen this issue? I assume my work around is to just turn off WiFi..

  • Im having the same issue with the 830. Plus Im struggling to get it to charge/ connect to garmin express via the PC. if its connected to the phone!. its pissing me off!!

  • I spoke with Garmin and they confirmed what I thought, You should only use one type of connection. So either pair with your home WiFi or to your mobile phone. Having both connected will cause sync issues. I'm just going to turn my WiFI off and that should resolve the issue.

  • - Part of this is true that you can only sync with the WiFi or Bluetooth connection. However neither should cause a sync error when syncing.

  • Could you perform a test syncing with WiFi only and Bluetooth Only? The first test disable the bluetooth on your mobile phone, create a mock activity (Start/Stop/Save a 30 second activity) and allow the Edge to sync to your WiFi connection. Did you receive a error message? If not, move on to the same test with Bluetooth. This time disable WiFi on the Edge 830, create a mock activity (Start/Stop/Save a 30 second activity) and allow the Edge to sync to the Garmin Connect app (don't forget to turn on the Bluetooth Connection).

  • Maybe you didn't understand what I was saying. You are correct that if you're connected to WiFi or Bluetooth it should not experience an issue uploading being connected with 1 type of connection. Where the confusion comes in is when your setting up your device and you connected it to your home WiFi and also pair it to your smart phone. At this point if you complete a ride while at home connected to WiFi and your phone the sync will fail. At this point if disable one of those networks it should upload.

  • Also, thank you Matthew for being active in this forum. :-)

  • OK, back to the drawing board on this ride upload issue. Today I finish a ride and I can see my phone is connect but it will not upload. I've tried power cycling the phone and Garmin I've tried turning the phone pairing off and connecting to WiFi and still NOTHING! I'm trying so hard to enjoy this device but it's making me miss my Wahoo Bolt that I owned for 1 year and never even thought about my bike computer because it just worked. I now ride around hoping my device doesn't freeze, Stays paired to my phone, Doesn't drop Ant + and will it upload once I'm finished.

  • When I open the Garmin Connect app and try to sync it shows

“Your device seems to be busy, and your sync request timed out. Try again later”

  • With the phone pairing disabled (in your Edge 530) while connected to WiFi, are you able to upload that ride from Edge 530?

  • Nope! I tried that too. If the ride does not automatically upload once the ride is complete it doesn't matter what you try or how many time your refresh in Garmin Connect.
