If you are experiencing this with sensors and Edge on version 16.13, please reply in this thread:
We understand the frustration this experience is causing you all and we do apologize for this. We are actively working to address this as quickly as possible, and sincerely appreciate all of the folks…
I have provided 500mb of ant logs and pointed out where the issue has occurred in all the logs via email/garmin file uploader and this forum. It is 100% reproducible.
It is about time this MAJOR issue…
Same Here :-( third update in a row wich doesnt work with sensors
@Garmin-Maeve are there any updates for this. I have tried removing and re-adding all my sensors but still not working whenever my device is just turned on from 'sleeping'. I have to fully power off the device before any sensors will connect. I have already replied in this topic with what sensors I am using as well as - yes you can contact me and I am in the US. since 16.13 my edge device has been very unstable.
Same behavior happening as described with Garmin Lights:
After Edge 1040 Solar goes into idle sleep, both accessories does not reconnect properly when it wakes up.
Sometimes only Varia RTL510 reconnects, sometimes it does not. Sometimes none get connected.
– Please provide a correction on this issue.
– Former Member, yes you can contact me directly. I'm from Brazil. In case of a phone call, just ask you to do it during afternoon UTC -3.
Same here, location Germany

I've recently experienced an odd problem with sensors after updating to 16.13. Happened on two different rides on two different bikes, on a mountain bike, one a road bike. Both times the ride paused, showing a speed of zero even while I was moving. On the road bike I was able to manually pause the ride on the edge, and un-pause and get it to resume recording. On the mountain bike that did not work. Messed with it for a few minutes, and finally just removed the speed and heart rate sensors and then the Edge began recording speed again. I have since re-added both back in and they appear to be working just fine on a short test.
On the mountain bike the sensor is a magene s3 speed/cadence sensor, hrm is a wahoo tickr.
The road bike ride was using a stages power meter, and wahoo tickr hrm.
Both events were free rides. Edge was in sleep mode prior to the ride, and had recorded 30 minutes or more with no issues before it did this.
TKU01 Can I reach out to you directly?
Yes, of course, no problem. How would you like to reach me, phone? My English is not quite as good anymore, but I think we can do that ;-)
Hi
I have the same issue. After device goes to sleep, the sensors connect for 10sec then disconnect. I need to pause activity, power off and power on, and then it’s fine for the next ride. Its now my normal routine for each ride!
I had this issue last month. It was solved and I had it twice again this morning in a 1hour ride:
The first time after 10minutes, I had to discard the ride and start a session again.
The second time happened after 50minutes, I finished the ride without sensors.
Like last months, once sensors are lost, this is is it. one has to discard or save the session and start a new one to get the Garmin to connect again
I am in France and you can contact me.
Here are my observations on the issue resulting into two reproducible bugs with Edge 1040 non-solar and RTL515.

Test case (Bug #1: Lost sensor connection when sensor was turned off for a while when device is turned on and not auto-sleeping is 100% repeatable)
Steps to reproduce:
- started a 35km course using device and a RTL515 radar sensor which was linked previously
- RTL515 sensor was working as expected until I did a coffee break in-between where I stopped course navigation and turned off RTL515 to save some juice
- Important: I didn't turn off the device (it was "paused" during the break)
- after 30 minutes when I returned to my bike I first resumed course navigation on the device and afterwards turned on the RTL515 sensor
- the result was that the device didn't reconnect the light network nor radar sensor. My guess is that the devices sensor scanning process somehow stopped working at the 30 minute break where the device was continuously turned on.
The expected behavior would be that after turning on the RTL515 sensor it would be automagically reconnected to the device.
This behavior can be reproduced 100% all the time.
Test case (Bug #2: RTL515 light network default settings are overridden by default behavior when resumed from sleep mode with paused course navigation)
Steps to reproduce:
- RTL515 is connected to device
- RTL515 light network individual setting is configured as "light off" mode
- course navigation or activity recording started
- course navigation or activity recording stopped
- device turned off into sleep mode (we have another coffee break here ;-))
- 30 seconds later device is resumed from sleep mode
- device reconnects RTL515 light network but since stopped course navigation or activity mode is still enabled the default light network behavior (flashing light mode when navigation or activity was started) is used on the tail light even if the light network settings are still the same (individual, light turned off). You have to re-select the already enabled individual "light off" setting to stop it from blinking again.
The expected behavior would be that the individual light network setting would be resumed instead of the default blink-while-navigate mode.
This behavior can be reproduced 100% all the time.
