If you connect the radar to a supported Forerunner or Fenix watch it will vibrate on your wrist so you don't have to depend on alert tone. You can also use the Varia app on your smartphone and configure it to vibrate in your pocket.

I set up an 18 week training plan. Weeks 1&2 are done but the rest of the weeks are not showing on the schedule. Every day is a ‘test day’. The 830 and my phone have synced many times.

Forget it. You won't see a garmin with front-facing buttons in the forseeable future.
I assume you refer to the drill log feature. Indeed, the vivoactive doesn't have it.
Max memory is under half of limit. I included println calls under the g[] = g[] + 1 and when the thing is run the prinln calls don’t go off so it’s definitley that that is the problem. I don’t know how to fix it though.
of course it's the bug, somewhere, device or simulator, both should run the same way
