It may be connected with a Garmin approach to have different versions of each model for APAC and ROW regions. See adjacent thread here

APAC version here. Just updated to 5.50 yesterday. No battery drain issue. 

Watch face = No frills

Spo2 = sleep only

BT always on

Wifi always off

I recommend to do a factory reset and use default watch face.

Error message??? You need to provide more information.  Does it download the FW? Does it try to install it and you get an error? Or something completely different. 

is your watch an APAC version? (That one usually gets updates at a later state).
