Lost GPS when swimming!

I have just upgraded my old FR910xt to a brand new FR945 and I have an open water swimming issue with the gps. the gps works fine for a few strokes and then gets lost but never comes back. I tried to keep my hand above the water for a while but lost forever.

With my 910, GPS lost was seemless as the watch was able to catch it automatically at a later stage but here nothing. a bit frustrating.

any idea?

What SW version and GPS version do you have installed? There were many reports of this same symptom out of the gate, but we have made several improvements since the 945 was released.

SW should be 4.20 and GPS should be 2.90. (APAC devices will be on different versions)

Been swimming with a 945 throughout our Southern Hemisphere winter without issue. What stroke are you swimming? How frequently do you pause?

I’ve had some inconsistent results with open water swimming. To be fair, I was snorkeling, but not all the way to South America.

But when snorkelling I'd guess that your watch spends more time below water than above. No way can you expect it to work

Very true. I was just amused to see the track go to South America. I’m sure it was just some brief gps glitch.
