Hello. I am sorry to hear you are having this issue. Our engineers have identified an issue that may crashing/rebooting when navigating or using the map. They are anticipating a fix for this to be introduced…
It is a problem with a faulty GPE file. Fenix/Epix series can be fixed without hard reset. - Connect the watch to the computer - Hard power down the watch by holding the light/power key for ~30 seconds…
Yes. The same happens here. I’ve tried to do a soft reset, but now my watch is stuck in a loading maps loop where after the maps are loaded, it says ‘checking maps’ and then powers off to a blue triangle…
Same here. My watch is looping through the following sequence: blue triangle - Fenix 8 animated logo - checking maps - power off - blue triangle - Fenix 8 animated logo, etc etc.
I've tried powering the…
Any update from Garmin when they will have the issue sorted out?

Garmin GPS meltdown: PSA do not do any GPS activity today & temp fix
As reported on this sub and others, many Garmin GPS watches are crashing and are stuck in a boot loop today. This is caused whenever a user attempt to start a GPS activity.
Affected models includes the 255, 265, 955, 965, Epix Pro, Mk3i and doesn't appear to be limited to those running beta firmware.
Soft reset will not work.
You can however hard reset your device (refer to manual as devices with different button configuration will have different methods of hard reseting).
You will not lose any data that were previously synced. Once your Garmin has been factory resetted, you can pair if with your phone again and have your data restored. This includes your training data.
However, do not attempt to start a GPS activity of any kind (even for calibrating the altimeter). This will cause the boot loop and you will have to repeat the process again.
In the meantime, until Garmin releases a fix, if you have to work out, start an activity that doesn't involve GPS, or disable GPS tracking in the setting.
WE JUST NEED TO WAIT
Yes, I spent 1,083 Euros (or 1,129 USD) four months ago on this watch. A bit expensive for what is effectively now a paperweight. I had a Fenix 5, and it lasted 7 years with no problems like this. I've already spent 3 hours on trying to fix this today.
MK3i hard reset don't work. The watch in boot loop.
Do you fix it? I cant. fenix 8 51mm herr.
Experiance the same, was about to have my run today...
I wonder who is affected by this - S Europe here.
Watch has now been rebooting itself continually since 6.30am - so 7 hours of constantly rebooting.
Seriously unhappy Garmin customer, not what I expect from owning a £1000+ GPS watch for less than a month.
What a joke.
It is a problem with a faulty GPE file. Fenix/Epix series can be fixed without hard reset. - Connect the watch to the computer - Hard power down the watch by holding the light/power key for ~30 seconds. - Press light/power key once and immediately press the start/stop key. Hold start/stop key for 30 seconds - Check the computer to see if the device mounted - In the Garmin/RemoteSW/ directory, delete the GPE.bin file - Disconnect the watch from the computer. Do not connect the watch to the phone until Garmin has repaired the GPE.bin file!!!
Same here, fenix 8 51 amoled, triangle shows up when either trying to start walk or run. 1300$ + tax month ago
