Compatibility between the Fenix 8 Amoled 51mm and the Approach CT1 sensor pack?

Hi,

Will there be a compatibility between the Fenix 8 AMOLED 51mm and the Approach CT1 sensor pack?
Currently only Approach S70, S44 and S50 watches are compatible with this pack.
I wanted to buy his sensors, but without certainty, I try in vain to find an answer.

Best regards

  • 1. (For further clarification) can you please provide more info on the specific feature you are stating is needed from the CT-1 sensors for the fenix 8? The CT-1 sensors are not the replacement for the CT-10 sensors and only provide the feature of specifying the club type prior to taking a shot. The fenix 8 has the Autoshot detection feature, club prompt (prompts the club list to tap the club type after the shot is detected), and provides the stat tracking feature to enter putts. The CT-1 sensors do not provide any additional stats, no putting performance stats, or any of the automation features that the CT-10 sensors provide. The sole feature the CT-1 sensors provide is club assignment after prior to the shot with autoshot then detecting the swing as per usual.

    2. The putt location marking feature is offered on the fenix 8, and the following products:

    • Approach S70
    • epix Gen 2 Pro and non-pro watches
    • MARQ Gen 2 (All in series)
    • Tactix 7 AMOLED
    • Quatix 7 Pro (Edition with the AMOLED display)

    3. I am not sure which part you are referring to in terms of the microphone cover, but I think you may be referring to the component installed over the barometric altimeter sensor that differs in color from the other metal components on certain editions of the fenix 8 that I think you may be referring to. Metal piece over the barometric altimeter sensor is not designed to be removed. Removing the screws will void the warranty on the watch and may damage the sensor. The piece not being designed to be removed, is not something that would be offered in other colors for that model...but on the Garmin Ideas page, feedback can certainly be submitted in terms of options being offered on any potential products offered by Garmin in the future for changing the color of hardware components. Please refer to discussions on this part of your feedback through the forum posts related to this topic, such as the thread linked here: Sensor protector colors...

  • Many thanks for the comprehensive reply. In reverse order:

    3. Well noted for the altimeter sensor cover. Maybe something will appear on the external market as I believe the customer feedback is still very strong on this and many will be happy to remove and replace (post warranty) rather than fully replace a premium product so soon.

    2. Great news on the mark putt feature now being available on the Fenix 8. I had not noticed it during my last round of golf but will try to find it next time. If you have any instructions on how to access this feature during play, it would be well received.

    1. CT1. In fact I have the CT10 sensors but stopped using them some years ago as they are too bulky compared to the competition (Arcoss), a bit too glitchy as the auto detection frequently doesn’t work and the battery replacement is very hard to complete. So the CT1 as a more slimline option (even if you still need to make a manual tap to pair the shot each time) is more preferred. It’s recognised that the auto shot detection feature is already on the Fenix 8 but again this can be glitchy especially on practice swings and close to the green short shots where a full swing is not needed and the shot is not detected. Having the CT1 sensor set will require the user to create the habit of club pairing before each shot but so long as this is secured, the shot data and analytics feeding to Garmin golf will be a lot more accurate and therefore provide more meaningful outputs.

    I hope it helps

    thx

    Andrew

  • I appreciate the clarification, and I have added your account to the feature request for adding CT-1 compatibility for fenix 8 and other products outside of the current Approach devices compatible with the sensors.

While I cannot guarantee compatibility will become available on additional devices outside of the Approach S44, S50, or S70 devices that currently will only pair with them...I will be sure to communicate if any announcements or additional information becomes available regarding further devices become compatible with the CT-1 sensors.

    - Thank you!
