Fenix 8 - calls

Question

Hi everyone, 
 just get my hands on a new fenix 8 amoled 51. Very happy about it. unfortunally i can not make calls through the watch. 
 everything is working fine, i get notifications about mails, messages and calls too. But when i push the botton to answer the call nothing happen. 
 pratically on the watch it is shown that i answered but on the phone the call still go ringing. 
 same thing if i try to make a call from the watch. I get the connection with the phone, i&rsquo;m able to select a contact and start the call. Everything seems to work fine but on the phone nothing happen.the call does not start.

Hello, I am sorry to hear you are having this issue. For this, there are some initial troubleshooting steps I would recommend trying. 
 
 Ensure the watch is on the latest SW version using Garmin Express. 
 Ensure your phone is on the latest OS version. There are a few models that we have found are not compatible with the Voice Assistant features on the watch: Phone Incompatibility List for Voice Assistant Watches 
 Next I would recommend ensuring the following: 
 
 Keep the app open and running in the background. 
 Be sure you have granted all permissions for the Phone and Connect apps. Garmin Device Not Receiving Smart Notifications From Phone 
 Do not use any low power or battery save modes on the phone.

Once you have done this, I would recommend powercycling the watch and the phone. Then test this again. 
 If there is no change, try pairing again from scratch with these steps:

Uninstall the Connect Mobile app 
 Clear the phone cache and history 
 Ensure the watch does not appear in the phone's Bluetooth menu. If it is, please remove the device 
 Powercycle the watch and phone. To do this, hold the Light button until this shuts off. Then power on again 
 Reinstall the Connect Mobile app 
 Try the pairing again ( Be sure there are no other Bluetooth enabled device nearby)

esselite said: you are justifying inability to accept, decline call, with incompabiloty for voice assistant. F7 series does not support voice assistant, but is supporting answering, declining incoming calls. 
 My instructions actually state to ensure your phone has the latest version of OS. While I also include the Voice Assistance compatibility list as added this as additional information, if you are not looking for Voice Assistance in addition to answering calls, you can continue with the other troubleshooting steps I listed. 
 While your phone model could be related, your phone having this latest OS is paramount to ensure you have all needed Bluetooth updates. I would still recommend continuing with the remaining troubleshooting steps so long as you have this up to date.

I have managed to resolve the issue only by changing the smartphone to newer model. Thta was not my plan to upgrdae the phone , but it looks like it is not working with Android 10 correclty. 
 So my previous smartphone was Huawei Mate 20X, it has BT 5.0, but pairing the watch with Connect application could not discover the watch as an audio device. 
 I switched to some Xiaomi model with Android 15, HyperOS 2.0 and the watch is now detected as an audio device, so it answers the call and I'm able to talk through the watch. It would be good to metion this somewhere in the manuals, as later user is surprized.
