Fenix 8 - calls

Hi everyone,

just get my hands on a new fenix 8 amoled 51. Very happy about it. unfortunally i can not make calls through the watch.

everything is working fine, i get notifications about mails, messages and calls too. But when i push the botton to answer the call nothing happen.

pratically on the watch it is shown that i answered but on the phone the call still go ringing.

same thing if i try to make a call from the watch. I get the connection with the phone, i’m able to select a contact and start the call. Everything seems to work fine but on the phone nothing happen.the call does not start.

  • My Dear, you are justifying inability to accept, decline call, with incompabiloty for voice assistant. F7 series does not support voice assistant, but is supporting answering, declining incoming calls. In your support materials, there is nothing on incompability to support calls from the watch, that is not same as voice assistant. Come on, headphones without any complicated software can support audio transfer for calls. That is not rocket science and is working with every Android, even on 10 years old smartphones. How pairing microphone and speaker with smartphone  is called voice assistant in yours instructions.? There is no any incompabiilty list mentioned in calling from the phone section

    My instructions actually state to ensure your phone has the latest version of OS. While I also include the Voice Assistance compatibility list as added this as additional information, if you are not looking for Voice Assistance in addition to answering calls, you can continue with the other troubleshooting steps I listed.

    While your phone model could be related, your phone having this latest OS is paramount to ensure you have all needed Bluetooth updates. I would still recommend continuing with the remaining troubleshooting steps so long as you have this up to date.

  • Troubleshooting didn't worked. What is Garmin last OS version of Android that watch should support this functionality? There is no any statement in materials on incompabilities for phone answearing feature and calls.

    What is your recommendation for me if this feature is not working? Should I upgrade my smartphine and if yes, to what brand and model actually should I upgrdae to make sure this is working and many other features as well?

  • My phone appear on the list you mentioned. It's sad to find out after puchasing a thousand euro watch.

    My phone is already updated to latest software version.

    This mean i'll not be able to use this feature until i'll get a new phone.

  • I have managed to resolve the issue only by changing the smartphone to newer model. Thta was not my plan to upgrdae the phone , but it looks like it is not working with Android 10 correclty. 

    So my previous smartphone was Huawei Mate 20X, it has BT 5.0, but pairing the watch with Connect application could not discover the watch as an audio device. 

    I switched to some Xiaomi model with Android 15, HyperOS 2.0 and the watch is now detected as an audio device, so it answers the call and I'm able to talk through the watch. It would be good to metion this somewhere in the manuals, as later user is surprized.
